Equilibrium Tri-Zone Impact Boot - anyone try the new design?

I need to buy a new set of jumping/xc boots for my new OTTB. I currently use the Tri-Zone all-sport boot, and I really like them so I was looking at the new design of the Tri-Zone Impact Boot. They are supposed to be very light and cool. Has anyone tried them?

I’ve also been looking at the new Woof Smart Event Boots, but they look stiff. I found a couple of people on here who like them. Your thoughts? We don’t have any tack shops here in south Louisiana to look at these to compare :frowning:

I have not seen the new Tri-Zone boots in person but I have held the Woof boots. I have two older models of the the Tri-Zone boots and love them! I as well am in need of new cross country boots. I have looked into both of these pairs. After viewing, bending, weighing, everything except for truly testing them on the cross country course. I did find the Woof boots pretty sturdy and seemed much stronger than the Tri-Zone. Again, I am only judging from pictures I have seen from the tri-zones. My advice is to order the Woof boots from smartpak since they offer free return shipping.

EmmyM, did the Woof boots seem heavy and stiff? They look that way in the pics.

No, from what I remember they were pretty lightweight and the material was flexible enough for me to twist the boots but they had some resistance. You can always order them from Smartpak and get a 100% refund.

I’m not a fan of the Tri-Zone. My son had them for his horse and in 9 months a front totally fell apart. He only competes beginner novice and schools novice/training and they were VERY lightly used (13 times total between shows and schooling). The horse doesn’t usually rub or hit fences. The back piece that runs up the tendons just totally came off. When I inspected the boot it appeared that the stitching was so close to the edge that it just looked like it couldn’t hold. I would not suggest these at all since there is no way they would take any kind of abuse.

Also not a fan of the Tri-Zone, but am a huge fan of the Majyk Equipe Boyd Martin XC Boots. They are soft against the horse and are quite sturdy on the outside. Also, they dry super fast!

My thin skinned horse had rubs from a pair of pricey boots - went back to Woof and she is fine. I heard they slipped, but when doing them up pay particular attention to tension and they worked fine. Like anything, when new they may need breaking in.
