Equine Affaire Trailer Dealers - Really only 2?

During my trailer search, someone alerted me to checking out Equine Affaire in Ohio this coming Spring. I have little memory of the trailer selection from the event in Massachusetts, but there’s only two trailer exhibitors listed. I’m also curious as to whether or not they actually offer ‘deals’ during the event.

Is this the norm? Is the selection decent? Looks like a featherlite dealer and then another place that only has sold listings on their site. It’s still a pretty decent drive for me, but was told that there were show deals to be had… wanted to confirm before I commit to a trek out there.

They usually have a good many trailers, Quarter Horse Congress in October has more.

Looking at the vendor list, Altmeyer’s, Featherlite, Lakota, Lance’s Trailer sales, Leonard Truck and Trailer, Parkside Trailer, and Exiss/Sooner will all be there.

Friends of mine bought a trailer at Equine Affaire several years ago, their advice was to buy Thurs-Sat, they bought the trailer on Sunday and it was difficult to get it financed because most places were closed.

Thank you! I don’t know what page I looked at, but it only listed Featherlite and Harrison. I think with your comment alone, I convinced the husband to take a trip out there on Thursday!

Maybe you were looking a sponsors and not the trade show vendors?

It’s nice to trailer shop at Equine Affaire even if you don’t buy anything. You can walk through different brands/layouts and get a feel for what you really want and the quality of the trailers. If you are shopping for a used trailer then Quarter Horse Congress is the place, they take in a lot of trades during the month they are motivated to sell them so they don’t have to haul them back to their lots.

Prices at all these things are better towards the last day since they woukdcrather not haul it home. But Congress probably is the very best place to shop towards the end of that multiple weeks long extravaganza.

have friends who bought a new 4 horse face to face side ramp entry gooseneck with extra height (they have WBs, not QHs). They also scored a crew cab dually used as a demo during the run of the show. Saved about 20% by coming back the last weekend of the show when the vendors were packing to head home. Kind of an extra that Congress is at the end if the current model year and the new trucks are already out.

Wish I could have made it to congress last year. Unfortunately, I can’t wait another summer, so EA is my only semi-local shot at getting a deal. I really don’t need anything spectacular (just hauling a mini and a cart), but everyone selling local trailers is looking to get a lot of gold for a broken down rust bucket that isn’t even safe to pull, so this is my real hope in finding something new and shiny :stuck_out_tongue:

The trailer dealers sometimes take trade ins at the home dealership location and be sure you ask them about those they left home.

Dont know where you are but outdoor sports and RV shows also host trailer dealers and most RV places handle horse trailers too. There’s a huge one on the Ohio/Indiana border on I 70, think Camping World owns it now. Maybe broaden your search to include these instead of just specific horse trailer dealers at horse related events.

I can say really good things about Lance’s Trailer sales based upon talking to them the last couple of days about their used trailers.
