So,how’s the Equine Art at WEG?Is it beautiful?Unusual?Any western work?
I really wish I was there to walk through and look at it,but since I’m not, please share your impressions.
YES!!! Check out this guy, Sam Price. He takes magazine pieces and makes the most incredible collages. I have never seen anything like what this guy can do. He has all these random little colored squares and when you step back he has captured the essence of a creature. The way he can portray the expressions and emotions of animals and people with this medium is incredible. And the pieces are very large, so I don’t know how it is even possible to accomplish. Check out his website at
He is AMAZING!!! If I could afford it I’d have these all over my house!
I love the links!Keep 'em coming:yes:
www.crossgategallery.com was at the trade fair, among others they had a Munnings hanging at the front of the booth. If i win the lottery I’ll shop there.
www.lamche.com was also there. Again must win that lottery. Loved his animals, esp the dog and the 2 rats.
I’m a potter by trade and love silver jewelry so I loved this booth; they take old china patterns, break them up and edge the ceramic pieces in silver and make them into rings, bracelets, pendants and necklaces. I have a blue on white china bracelet made by someone else. So I enjoyed looking.
I rode one of the religious shuttles with the lamache.com guy on Tuesday AM and then noticed this amazing “pig” sculpture that was on the grassy knoll between the walkway and the trade fair and figured it must be his.
There was an artist at the Expo downtown that did paintings of horses in which she(?) really captured the expressions in their eyes. I think this is the right one: http://bethbrowning.com/
There were some nice paintings in the USHJA headquarters by Sandra Oppegard that were for sale.
And then there were the Horse Mania fiberglass statues that were a lot of fun!
Walked into the vendors area, my eye fell on “Flight” and I had to have it. Going to hang it in my office at work.
Some gorgeous equine art is done by COTH’s own DLee whose work can be seen at http://www.dianasart.com/
Diana is at WEG but not as an artist. She’s helping out at Bit of Britain.
