EQUINE BREEDING FACILITIES THAT ACCEPT INTERNS

Hello,

I am a current student at Colorado State University who is a Senior in Equine Science. I figured this question would fit in this section because of the nature of what I am looking for/have questions about.

I am looking to get into a masters program in the next couple of years at most in the areas of Equine Reproduction and want to know if any of you know of facilities, ranches, or farms that might be good to contact to inquire about summer (May-August) internship opportunities in the area of equine reproduction, stallion management, and breeding barn mare/foal management.

I have stallion handling and collecting experience, experience assisting vets in embryo transfers/flushes/AI’s/and preg checks, can package semen for shipping, and have done foal handling and mare barn care. So I am looking for a place that stays busy in the summer as I can keep up with a brisk pace. I want to be able to benefit myself, my education, and benefit the facility I am at.

Thanks guys you all are great

I don’t know the answer to your question but I’m going to be the grammar police since you are putting yourself out here professionally.

You were born IN 1989

but you were born ON 1/23/1989

I appreciate the grammar critique. My screen-name is a code the college gave me for system log in purposes, so I use it because its easy for me to remember as I’ve used it for the last 4 years. Thanks again

I think Select Breeder Services in Maryland post internships on their website. And they have affiliates all over. The have expanded beyond stallions to also be doing mares (not sure about foaling though). Good Luck!

Thanks Omare! Much appreciated.

If you are looking to stay in CO I would suggest Premier Breeding in Kiowa, I had a friend that did her internship there.
Great facility, top of the line equipment and Brad is great.
I actually use Brad for my mares, its a drive but worth it for me.

I imagine any of the breeding farms in KY would be an option.

Rainbow Equus always has interns working during breeding season, maybe shoot Edgar an email to see whats available.
