Equine Lymphoma

Anyone have an experience with a horse with lymphoma?
How did your horse present in order to find diagnosis?
What did you do to treat or preserve quality of life for as long as possible?
And the most grim question: how long did your horse live after diagnosis?

Thanks

Our horse just seemed not right. He lost some weight and seemed less energetic than usual. Initial lab work was normal. 6 months later, a blood smear was read by a pathologist and showed abnormal cells of lymphoma. My vet daughter opted to give him several months of chemo, done at the barn, which he tolerated well. The chemo protocol was ?every few weeks. The horse was totally normal after finishing chemo. Two years later, the lymphoma recurred and she put him down.

Tell us more about your horse.

I lost my beautiful mare to lymphoma. She had some bumps under the skin along her belly for a long time. Then she developed a very aggressive case of uveitis. Later on she developed fluid in her lungs. High doses of dex gave some short term improvement. We lost her about 6 months later.
The vets were hesitant to diagnose lymphoma since there isn’t a good diagnostic test. They were quite sure it was lymphoma by the end.
Im very sorry your horse has lymphoma. It broke my heart.

A friend’s horse was diagnosed in January a few years back, and put to sleep on June 1 that same year. I would have done it about 2 1/2 months sooner.
