Equine nutritionist recommendation?

I’m thinking about doing a consultation with an independent equine nutritionist to figure out some challenges I’m having with a horse who has some sensitivities/allergies.

Does anyone have recommendations of good one to reach out to?

Have you checked with your county’s extension agent?
They know the nutritionists in your area and should make a good recommendation.
The nutritionists in our area generally are working thru the local mills that produce the feeds, horse feeds also, try them?
Some are consultants, others work for the mills or the franchise if the mills are affiliated with one.

I expect you have checked with a veterinary specialist?

My vet suggested that I find an Independent equine nutritionist (not working for a mill or specific company), who can help formulate a personalized diet plans. But she didn’t have specific recommendations.

Google has shown me there are many who offer in person or phone consultations, but it can be pretty hard to tell from a website if someone is any good or not.

Look into Feed XL. Completely independent

I love feed xl. The issue here is that because of the allergies, I need someone who can help me create a custom blend/program rather than identity gaps/needs.

Maybe if you tell which region you are in, someone may know one there?

Here for any special ration we would ask a regular nutritionist, from the local mill or a local testing lab and see what they come up with.
There are some show stables that used to order their own mix from the mill and the mill always wanted a nutritionist or veterinarian to sign on it, to be sure it was appropriate for who it was going to be fed.

Good luck with allergies, those can be hard to figure out.

I recently worked with Rachel Mottet, PhD. Legacy Equine Nutrition. You can find her on Facebook. She was great. She is located in Ocala, FL and I am in SC but we had no problems communicating through pictures, Zoom, and phone consults.

I can’t speak highly enough of both Claire Thunes and Rachel Mottet

And NO, Claire is NOT affiliated with the Summit Joint Performance mess.

I’ve also used Claire Thunes…she was excellent to work with. She recommended a few different supplement options (none were Summit brand)…but I felt like she was providing them as examples and left it up to me to decide if I wanted to use that product or a different one. Mostly we corrected vit/mineral/protein balances using different grain options. Would definitely use her again if I needed another consult.
