Equinsense App

Has anyone tried the Equisense App on their phone? If so, do you like it? Or do you use another app? Is so, which one, and why do you like it? I don’t want to download it on my phone if it isn’t useful. Thanks in advance!

If you’re looking for just a gps/tracking type app, I use Equilab when I’m hacking. I use Equestic (as above) when I’m training.

Have it, love it, it’s very useful and helpful and accurate. Bought it 20 months ago. Sensed an irregularity before I felt it.

I need to use it more.

Is it one sensor on one side of the saddle?

I took at look at t he website and it appears similar to the Equisense that I have; just wondering how it works if the sensor is only on one side. I’ve been extraordinarily impressed with the Equisense!

As mentioned, you need to buy the sensor to interface with the app. They’ve been having a special right now, I think 25% off, so if you wanted one, now would be the time to buy.

Does it work? Full disclaimer: I was involved, for a time, with the launch of the product getting ready for the Kickstarter campaign. I’ve never seen the product in person, never tried it on my own horse (you think they could’ve sent me one!). I reviewed it with a top lameness vet who was skeptical that attaching a sensor on your saddle or to your girth while you rode could provide feedback accurate enough to determine a lameness given how much the rider can influence the horse’s soundness but there are other aspects to the product that are interesting. At least in the beginning you didn’t get real time feedback on you ride – you had to download the data after to review it. I’d find it much more valuable if you could analyze your ride as you went, but maybe the newer versions do that. I haven’t kept up.

I’ve been part of their Facebook Group since the beginning and yes, there have been problems with the sensors working and with the updates. However, there are also people who find it very helpful. I think the people who developed the product, who are all equestrians, did so with the best of intentions. Whether the product lives up to the hype is more of a personal opinion.

Interestingly, the product is integrated into the Voltaire Blue Wing saddle but I haven’t heard much about people using it.

How neat! Although I cannot understand how they could have you review it without using it!!

It honestly found a VERY subtle problem before I identified it.

It found a very subtle problem in my mare as well. But it’s glitchy as hell.

I didn’t review it, I helped create awareness for the Kickstarter campaign. But yes, using it would have been helpful.

Thanks everyone!!
