Equioxx, poop and poop eating puppy

This is a stretch but I’m grasping for straws. I have a 4 month old GSD puppy who has twice now fallen over flat, once at play and once with zero provocation. It’s a little terrifying. She recovers quickly and truly seems fine all other times.
She does have a slightly high wbc as per vet visit and labs done last week and has been on an antibiotic since. She will be getting follow up labs done on Thursday. Also with an elevated wbc was high potassium. Vet was unsure why this would be.
I’ve wracked my brain for things and am wondering if the horse I just started boarding who is on daily Equioxx might POSSIBLY have something to do with it as the pup is definitely a poop eater…?
I have been googling and googling without much success so am coming here for the wealth of info that is COTH.
There’s nothing else chemical wise I can think of. I have zero poison here, no horse has been wormed, there is literally nothing else, car fluids, weed killer… nothing.

I couldn’t find if Equioxx is passed through in urine or feces… that would help decide too. Thanks for any info

The dog dose of firocoxib is SO much higher than the horse dose of firocoxib. While the drug is processed through the liver and excreted in feces, the pill you give your horse (assuming you’re doing 57 mg) treats a 18-35 pound dog. Even if your dog ate the entire dose you’re giving your horse every day, nothing untoward would happen.

Have you considered seizures here?

I immediately did because I have another gsd who is on medication for them but vet thinks no at this point. Hoping that is true.
Thanks for the info.

Any chance of getting into dewormer?

No, no dewormer on the place right now.

Mushrooms :mushroom:?

A friends puppy just had a similar incident and this was the only thing they could think of. This was a toy breed puppy.

If there’s any concern that this is something he’s eating outside, maybe it’s worthwhile to teach him to wear a muzzle, so he can’t be sneaky about those delicious outdoor snacks?

Oh that’s pretty interesting… thank you

Definitely a thought if she’s not 100 after these antibiotics, a good way to know exactly what’s going into her. Thank you

Oh, HER. Not him! I’m sorry!

Hope the abx do the trick!
