The labeled form of tablet Equioxx is identical (100%) to the Previcox.
No changes, simply a horse on the label for one assembly line, a dog label on another.
Market demand forced the hand.

I have the same issue…I have 3 (large) horses who get 1/2 of a 227 mg Previcox. Having to use 2 tablets of Equioxx per horse increases cost significantly. And I have other older horses on it as well. Bute isn’t really an option for mine, so I’m stuck.

I don’t think vets will have a choice to switch or not. People wanted the pill for horses, now they do. Under what rationale would an equine vet continue to write an RX for Previcox for a horse?

Under the same rationale many are using now-- client wants/demands it and vet is willing to bend the rules a little and pretend it’s for a dog.
Previcox is not the only NSAID available, that’s the choice. Someone can switch to bute instead, if the horse tolerates that well.
^ There’s actually a wide range of NSAIDs available, and I’ve been wondering if something else might work better anyways. If I can’t get previcox I’ll get something else through a compounding pharmacy.
