We would love to get our aging dog out on some hikes this fall now that it is cooling down. Has anyone used a dog backpack? There are ones that hold a dog horizontally, vertically, all paws out, just front paws out, etc. and the options are a bit overwhelming. He’s ~ 20 lbs.
Our goal is to stay well under his threshold but I’d like to have the option on hand. We ended up on a “moderate” trail last spring that had a aggressively vertical climb coming back and DH ended up carrying him the last 3/4 of a mile. Having your arms full of dog isn’t super safe and I’d rather us be prepared if needed.
