Eric Lamaze Submits Forged Medical Documents to Court

I used to be pretty entrenched in the A hunter circuit and the only time I ever saw cocaine was at a hotel room party with a bunch of the jump crew guys. Not saying it wasn’t everywhere, but it certainly wasn’t out in the open at all. Now I roll with the eventing crowd and despite their rep for being drinkers/partiers, I actually find them less so than the H/J people. Maybe I’m just naive, or the type of person no one offers drugs to though. :joy:

That is absolutely not true. Kent’s parents are nice people with good careers. He was raised in a lovely house in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. Not filthy rich, perhaps, but certainly not at al poor.

O. M. G.

And Canada made him their Chef with that history?!? Really?!?

Even aside from all his current legal issues.

This is another quote from that same article.

I am not an expert on the subject. But I would say for someone who says he does not have a drug problem, he seems to have had an awful lot of positive drug tests.

“Later in an interview he wanted to set things straight. “I want the public record set straight. I am not a drug addict, I do not have a drug problem. I have no craving for drugs. Cocaine is not a part of my life. It is not a part of lifestyle and I do not associate with people who use drugs.”

Exactly! This has been my point.

And to add to the entire picture, there is the issue regarding years and years of the way he has conducted himself in personal relationships involving female students, employees, and a divorce situation that was pretty messy. It’s all pretty well known… and given that we are now in a SafeSport era, it’s simply NOT a good idea to elevate someone with this much history and drama swirling around them to the Chef D’Equipe position.

Damn–his picture must be in the dictionary next to the entry for “chutzpah”.

That post is unhinged and shows a distortion of reality quite apart from the fact the author speaks French, and might or might not be using voice to text, and might be poorly educated in any language .
My job involves looking closely at the writing of both students and published texts, and I’ve actually studied published authors who’ve had documented issues with reality for periods of their lives. Not to mention all the exposure to cray cray on social media!

I can’t diagnose obviously but this kind of free form rant is either drunk/drug posting or some pretty serious emotional/ psychological issues. Or both.

Honestly, after reading that Facebook post, I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs.

When was this? Because I saw lots of cocaine use in the jumpers during the 1980s.

Yeah, based on everything else he claims he is most likely lying about the laryngectomy, just saying that being able to talk on the phone isn’t necessarily evidence of it. And I’m absolutely with you about Lamaze being deplorable for faking all of this.

My dad luckily had an awesome team and survived 11 years after his throat cancer with a pretty good quality of life, but there ere definitely hard parts for him. And I had a partial thyroidectomy done a few years ago, where despite having seen everything my dad went through with his surgery, I was not prepared for how awful my initial recovery was. Turns out you use your neck for a lot of things you don’t even think about, like lying down or sitting up and I never want to go through that again.

I had a friend who lived with throat cancer for about 6 years before it killed her and there was absolutely NO part of her journey that I would wish on anyone. It was surgery after surgery, complete loss of her voice, being placed on a feeding tube, massive amounts of steroids, I could go on and on. It was a slow and awful death and if he is faking (all signs point to that being 100% possible), then he is a special kind of sick that doesn’t deserve any favors at this point.

That sounds horrible :disappointed_relieved:

Even if he is faking a glioblastoma, it makes him a special kinda ugly!

For everyone saying that they hope he gets the help he needs, it’s just not going to happen. He’s not taking responsibility and evidently not seeking help. You would think any of those previous major issues would have been the wake-up call, but he wasn’t able to overcome then.

This points to either a lack of desire or an inability to change, no matter any official or unofficial diagnosis of psych issues. Now everyone has been forewarned not to deal with him going forward.

There is a saying I quote frequently in the world of recovery- “How do you know when an addict/ alcoholic is lying? Their lips are moving.”

One sure way to know a person is sincere in recovery is by their actions. Are they still lying, which is a major symptom of addiction? Are they taking proactive steps in their recovery- attending meetings, inpatient or outpatient treatment, do they have a sponsor or dedicated support system, have they changed people, places and things in their lives?

Based on the whoppers this guy is telling, I would say addiction is still ruling his life, whether he wants to admit to it or not.

Apparently he has not hit his rock bottom yet. Sadly, for many addicts, that can be the end of life!

I saw that TikTok before it was deleted. That’s Karina Aziz, owner of Iron Horse Farm, one of the people suing him. AFAIK, their case is over misrepresentation of horses sold to IHF/Karina.

There’s a political commentator who uses a similar line regarding politicians: Watch what they do, not what they say.

Wow, that is not exactly the treatment model that is used today. Yes, the disease of addiction can cause a person to be dishonest and do dishonest things. But that type of broad sweeping statement is harmful to those who are trying (and sometimes failing and trying again) to overcome their addiction. Most addicts/recovering addicts that I know (and I run a treatment facility so it numbers into the 1000’s) still have remorse for their actions while they were actively using and have a desire to change.

In the “world of recovery” change, honestly, and vulnerability are encouraged and taught. So maybe rethink the way you have worded your statement.

EL is a POS. No question. No matter what his base issue is, he has shown zero understanding of why it’s wrong, no remorse, and an overall attitude of untouchability. Whether he has a cocaine issue or not, I suspect his real issue is a MH issue, the addiction may be secondary.
