Eric Lamaze Submits Forged Medical Documents to Court

So he is still claiming he was sick … Interesting route to take.

Interesting.

I have wondered why so many close to him have remained silent. If the allegations were 100% true I would be immediately publicly removing myself from his world.

Perhaps the plot thickens or perhaps it’s total bullshit. I have no idea what to think anymore.

I think, to a lot of people, remaining silent is a great way to remove oneself from a situation.
Not everyone has to make a huge public presentation about moving on from a bad situation.

His lawyer friend, who did make a public move away from him is slammed in this article, so that there is enough reason to just be quiet and walk away.

It’s likely that neither side is 100% in the right, as is often the case in life.

Using show results to demonstrate that a horse is or is not dangerous is not necessarily useful - there are plenty of horses out there competing that wouldn’t be considered safe for most people to ride. Also, part of the job was scouting suitable horses. If the horses weren’t suitable for the rider’s skill set, then the person sourcing the horses and collecting those commissions perhaps should have done better…

The medical file being confidential until 2027 also seems odd, and it still doesn’t explain why many of the medical descriptions or procedures detailed in the past just straight up don’t make sense.

I agree, but then why did the buyers use him SO many times? Fool me once shame on you, twice is shame on me.

Perhaps but this is the horse world lol. People struggle to keep their mouths shut over little stuff. I’m pretty far removed at this point in my life but I’m still surprised I haven’t heard anything, even 3rd hand type stuff from back home. Makes me wonder if there are at least some bits of truth in this statement. The horse deals I don’t even care about. Unfortunately not totally uncommon. I want to know to what extent he is lying about the health matters. That’s the most heinous part of this IMO.

That was my immediate reaction.

I confess, I want him to come out on the good side of this, even though I know that’s just naieve romanticism.

So much has already been proven in court.

The man is a liar and a criminal and spewing anything he can, meanwhile he owes clients millions.

Wish they wouldn’t give him a platform.

and the European Dr said the documents were forged and fakes.

And he was riding in Miami when he was supposedly too sick to respond to lawsuits.

Lies lies lies

I’ve heard plenty here.

The statement depicts a sort of battle of the documents.

Courts like documents because, once published, they become a fixed point of details that don’t change.

But sometimes reality is not quite what the documents depict. Sometimes the documents contain statements that are unverifiable or untrue.

On both sides.

Some of LaMaze’s press release statement is verifiable, but much of it is his subjective assessment of a situation. He well knows that anything stated as if it is a fact, tends to be treated as a fact. Even if it’s really someone’s point of view, someone’s statement, not hard evidence.

Why horses were returned is a matter of someone’s evaluation of the situation. In addition to whatever was said at the time, which may not have been the entire reason why.

Why they did better later, under other riders, needs many more facts to enable readers to come to their own conclusions. But in this statement LaMaze does that for us. As if that is all there is to know.

I have no idea how true the press release is – it might be 100% true, it might be partially true. There isn’t a way for a reader like me to verify it.

Some of the court evidence is in the same category.

In a situation like this, I’m interested in someone’s pattern of behavior, to help sort out what might and might not be true. Not just LaMaze but those who sued him as well. Do they do sue paid helpers often? Don’t know.

I’m no lawyer and not versed at all in things legal… but wouldn’t one be slightly unhinged to make accusations against others including a lawyer unless one had absolute proof? Wouldn’t that open up potential for even more lawsuits?

I also wonder why no one came to his defense publicly. EC certainly wouldn’t because they are a useless entity. He was suddenly “he who shall not be named” by any of the Canadian riders and publications until the original news broke last year. It was all very weird… and his response is really odd. And still, no one mentions him at all.

I am assuming there is guilt on both sides as it is a situation that involves very rich people with too much money and a business that is dirty with no regulation.

Like what? From whom?

I want to know what’s being said behind closed barn doors from the likes of Tiffany, Beth, Ainsley etc.

Even EMG gossip would be better than the near silence about this thing. The good old days

As far as I know, Confidentiality Agreements don’t protect information if it is subpoenaed. So I call BS on that. If it could have helped him in court, he could have provided that information. I guess a lot of people are gullible enough to think otherwise. I suppose the clinic could fight a subpoena but could lose that battle in court.

It’s entirely possible that the buyer wanted horses that were too advanced for her (lots of riders lack self awareness to that extent), and she couldn’t ride them properly/safely. Who knows. Also, if they did vet their own horses, withholding information at a vetting could impede a proper evaluation of the soundness of the horse. Who knows what the real story is. probably in the middle.

Trotting out this other guy’s conviction doesn’t exactly mean that EL isn’t also a criminal.

Finally, this is a press release and not an article. No one has offered the supporting document or verified proof. Yes you can go to FEI/USEF for results to see, but a real article would provide those results.

This is all pretty sus. And if he’s surviving this highly unsurvivable cancer, why wouldn’t that clinic want more publicity for their methods which are life saving?

I call total BS on this weirdness about having to keep his medical files private until 2027.

That’s complete nonsense.

It is comical Eric thinks anyone believes he has an artificial kidney that somehow the entire medical & scientific community doesn’t know exists. He talked wayyyy too much in this interview https://horsesport.com/magazine/profiles/eric-lamaze-talks-hickstead-health-uncertain-future/amp/ - a recovery from a glioblastoma would have plausible, but the extent of nonsense here.

I guess we’ll find out in 2027

A recovery from glioblastoma is possible? It only has a 7-10% 5 year survival rate…

Don’t forget Eric has at this point been living with artificial kidneys , overcome a brain tumour , had throat cancer, had his voice box removed - but now can talk again! He really is imvinceable! And don’t forget he won a 160 Grand Prix at spruce meadows while orally treating himself with chemo therapy.

I also love the picture of him in this latest article . It’s from 2019 so this is his peak of illness when he was deathly sick, appears to look great in a tux and like he’s at party! God does he have some sort of superhero body or what ?!?!? Wowza he should be studied !
