Eric Lamaze Submits Forged Medical Documents to Court

Well now we all know why, back in 2019ish, he would refuse to actually talk to our news reporters here in Calgary about his supposed cancer, while competing at Spruce Meadows! All we would here is “he goes for treatment while competing and talking about it will stop him from concentrating ”……now I’m thinking it’s because he’d of been found out that, no he wasn’t under active care at our cancer Center? And drs etc would of called him out?

Well I’m off to Spruce Meadows for the Masters….this should be interesting while at the pub!

In other news, it seems that Eric was busy dabbling in real estate in and around Wellington in 2021, and promoting that on social media as well.

So show jumping at the highest levels, while also renovating houses, while also battling brain cancer? Nope. That’s total bull $**t. What a scam artist.

The US has been following a black and white “addiction is a disease” model for decades and it is outdated. Our treatment models are highly focused on financial success (think expensive cash only rehab facilities) and have extremely high rates of recidivism. The rest of the world is embracing the nuances and complexity of addiction and are making more progress in successful treatment as such. Neuroscience is advancing in much of the world as a new field–hopefully this will help treat many folks with SUD. Eric Lamaze–if all is as it appears–seems to suffer from far more than SUD, perhaps having many sociopathic traits as well.
Here is a wonderful and fascinating article on the future of addiction neuroscience for those interested.

Very very interesting.

Reporters could have dug a tiny bit for details… the whole thing was strange and suspicious to anyone who has some basic oncology knowledge because they or a loved one has been through actual cancer treatment.

Yep all I can think is that either he was getting some kind of treatment at Foothills (drug treatment etc) or he was visiting a “naturopath”? So “alternative “ treatment which could hide anything or just like nobody dug into that other article, because he refused interviews and didn’t implicitly name any oncologists here it didn’t raise flags! As someone that was at that time going through surgeries, he “looked the part” wore the same type of sunglasses my friends brother did, masked up, etc……unless he’d actually said something outlandish in our paper I wouldn’t of noticed anything!

Oh, I’m not saying that his lying about cancer is a result of substance use or that it in any way excuses it. I was just referring to the fact that he was previously in some hot water over drug use, and while that is the sort of thing that might make me, say, think twice about putting my own horse in training with him, I don’t think he needs to be ostracized from the sport over it.

Faking cancer for personal gain on the other hand, I’m not so sure that deserves a second chance in my book.

It links to a 2020 interview EL did with Ali Nilforushan. I’m curious to listen to the parts of that interview where he speaks about “his cancer” just to try and discern how obvious this whole scam was. Some people are really convincing when they spew BS. I don’t know. The whole thing is nuts.

I still don’t understand how in the H.E.double hockey sticks. Equestrian Canada decided to make him Chef D’Equipe in 2022 with the lawsuits and allegations of serious financial misconduct that were already out there at that time. That’s nuts to me.

Most people who go through chemical chemo have injection ports or pic lines. Typically in the clavicle area or in the arm. It isnt something you bounce into a facility to do, while you are on the road. Did ANYONE notice he didn’t have one. Members here have discussed what to do about their lines and managing barn time

Thinking about " artificial kidney run by computer" to me anyone could conflate an IV pump was such a thing. But yes, a reporter could have done very basic research to find out about the new and future possibilities of artificial kidney technology. It is pretty amazing

He must have a certain amount of charisma that people take his word. I worked with someone for whom lies were a way of life to the point he could tell no truth in any aspect of his life . So many people bought in to it

A friend of mine is suffering from reversible kidney damage due to BP medication coupled with dehydration and UTI. While very ill, she is managing with medications diet and fluids .

I went through very basic cancer surgery and radiation. No way could I have done barn life during radiation, let alone chemos.

Reading that latest piece by COTH really boggles my mind. How do you keep track of all the lawsuits and lies over the years? Never in my wildest imagination would I think anyone would fake brain cancer. Drug issues are one thing but this goes so far beyond that. He must be a very disturbed person. Sad.

He apparently claimed to have been on a pill form of chemo for his brain cancer.

But… I don’t think he ever provided any public specifics as to the specific diagnosis or the specific chemo. I know Xeloda can be used for breast and colon cancer and is available in pill form. But… it can be brutal with side effects. No way are you jumping Grand Prix while on it. There are probably other newer pill chemo drugs out there now that I have zero knowledge of.

What I do know, however, is that chemo is of limited utility when it comes to brain cancer and brain Mets. The whole blood brain barrier thing. Surgery and radiation are more common for treatment.

His whole story doesn’t add up.

Also… why would a Canadian citizen travel to Europe to a 100% private clinic for cancer treatment? If they did choose that option… they would need to be a multi millionaire. Paying for cancer treatments 100% out of pocket is $$$$$$$…

This might not be that crazy, since I think you need to be in Canada for at least 50% of the year in order to retain health care coverage (someone please correct me if I’m wrong). Between his time spent in Europe and his time spent in Florida, I would be very surprised if he spent more than a few weeks a year in Canada.

Jonathon Millar’s costly recovery from his injury has been in American hospitals as far as I know, which I imagine must be for similar reasons since he’s based in Florida.

Fair enough. But still… for someone who had well known money challenges… it would have made more financial sense to stay in Canada for long term ongoing cancer treatment, I would think.

So, this really reminds me of something that happened in my circle of people many years ago.
Someone went into the doctor was diagnosed with brain cancer. There was an immediate outpouring of love, support, money, etc from the community. They put their face on signs and took donations at the grocery store. Make a wish was contacted.

Then just a few weeks later the biopsy results showed that it was non-cancerous. Just a tumor. Possibly had been there since birth, and likely would never cause real issues.

The parents refused to accept this. It had to be cancer. They shaved the kids head (he was not doing chemo). They begged the doctors to do some radiation or something. They told everyone it was brain cancer still. Eventually the community lost interest and moved on. Only after they stopped getting free stuff was the child declared ‘cured’.

I’d wonder if he got a false diagnosis of something and then realized how much sympathy, money, and leeway you get when you’re facing dying from a horrid death.

Whoa! That poor child. That sounds almost like a misdiagnosis situation that morphed into Munchausen by proxy.

There are some comments on Facebook alleging there were actually fundraisers linked to Lamaze’s cancer? I don’t remember seeing news about that… but if so, that’s really bad.

Yeah, I think that’s exactly what it was.

Sometimes the truth turns into a lie and then the lie is so big it’s easier to keep it rolling.

It hasn’t been a secret for quite some time, if ever. Les Wexner met Epstein the mid '80’s and hired him as a financial adviser.

It certainly isn’t reported on, or at least I don’t recall any articles deep diving into the Wexners’ ties to Epstein in COTH or other trade pubs.

It is established that Jeffrey Epstein was living in the Wexners’ house while running a juvenile sex trafficking ring. USEF seems fine with this.

Are we fine with this? It is legitimate concern. Shouldn’t they ask some questions? I mean, I am a middle aged female and I Cc moms on texts with juniors because of SafeSport, but we accept this? Maybe it is just me, but I have doubts that our Olympic team should be funded by Jeffrey Epstein. They were his main clients.

Are you referring to Ian Millar here? He was called “Captain Canada” - not Eric Lamaze. As for EL - I will cling to the amazing rides of the past… and I feel very sad for those affected by the pathetic shell of a human being he has become. Not angry - but very, very disappointed. And yes he is sick… as the lawyer said.

Or… ON something.

Of course not. The Wexners are long time sponsors.at the elite level of equestrian sports.
Why embarrass them ?
Vanity Fair published an article about Epstein/Les Wexner a few years ago.

Even the NYT wrote this up, but Equestrian pubs are hands off.

Epstein had a power of attorney. He used Wexner resources to assault women.

We are fine with this?

The connection with Epstein goes back to the 1980s and Abigail married Les in 1993.
