On the FEI suspension:
Much has been said about Eric Lamaze’s ineligibility. Let’s be precise. The FEI Anti-Doping Rules (Art. 10.14.1) state:
“No person who has been declared ineligible may, during the period of Ineligibility, participate in any capacity (including as a rider, coach, trainer, owner or otherwise) in any Event, Competition, or activity that is authorised or organised by the FEI or any National Federation.”

This means:
• Eric cannot participate on site at FEI-sanctioned events or National Federation activities in any official capacity.
• It does not prohibit private coaching or training in independent facilities outside FEI/NF oversight—something that is standard practice worldwide for other suspended professionals.

His work at Tal Milstein Stables is fully compliant with these rules. The ambiguity comes from the FEI’s own wording—not from Eric’s actions.

On claims about an ‘FEI spokesperson’:
Statements circulating that “Mr. Lamaze cannot coach any equestrian riders affiliated with any National Equestrian Federation or train horses registered with the FEI” misrepresent the actual decision. The official decision issued to Eric is consistent with Article 10.14.1 and contains no such language.

We understand that Eric’s past raises strong reactions. He has acknowledged his mistakes. But much of what is written is speculative, malicious, or simply unverified.

Mistakes? I think he’s pretty far past being able to call his actions “mistakes”. Lying to so many people as Eric did (repeatedly) wasn’t a “mistake.” It was a self centered behavior intended for his own benefit with no thought for the people he hurt.

@RB_Team You and Tal Milstein Stables have very low standards in my opinion. I’m guessing that Tal Milstein Stables are aware of the nature of Lamaze’s “mistakes”. If that is the case Tal Milstein Stables certainly sets a low bar for their hires. If they are not aware they are severely lacking in research skills.

Eric Lamaze is is suspended by the FEI until 2031 for very good reasons.

There’s a wide gulf between acknowledging you’ve been caught in a bunch of lies, and apologizing and demonstrating contrition. Thus far, the best I’ve found is this excerpt from the Horse Sport article:

According to the court document, Lamaze “testified that he did have two surgeries on his throat for throat cancer in July and August, but he did not have brain surgery.”

I seem to be missing the mea culpa part.

Come on, it was a mistake. He got confused and mistook his throat for his brain. Happens all the time I am sure.

How can he have a work visa to work in a foreign country legally, when the type of work he is doing he is technically banned from? Usually high-performance athletes get a visa of that type.

Perhaps the Belgium government is not very picky, or has few rules about which Canadians are allowed to work in their Country?
