It’s a medical miracle! (Or not).

I found this snippet particularly interesting:

An FEI spokesperson explained after levying the original ban, ā€œMr. Lamaze cannot coach any equestrian riders affiliated with any National Equestrian Federation or train horses registered with the FEI or National Equestrian Federations.ā€ It is unclear how he will circumnavigate this restriction in his new job.

Huh. Yet it says right there in the press release that he’s going to be ā€œcoaching.ā€

Interesting in a bad way.

Unless they’re only planning to have him coach people who don’t show, I don’t know how that’s going to work.

"TMS specializes in the purchasing, training and selling of high-end showjumpers " - who wouldn’t want someone with his reputation involved in this sort of business!

Does anyone remember when he said he can start talking about his artificial, computer-controlled kidney? Because I am really looking forward to that.

It’s not just people he can’t teach. It’s also horses registered with FEI or national federations.

After all that’s happened, what an odd alliance.
This won’t end well.

Probably fairly soon, though.

Don’t have time to repeat details I’m sure many are already familiar with. But there are banned coaches and trainers out there working away for good money with students and owners who attend FEI horse events. I’m not close enough to that world to know if there is any enforcement whatsoever.

Glad to see TMS and Lamaze respecting the rules.

Do you think TMS just had the world’s biggest brain fart when they announced this on FB or are they flagrantly flipping the FEI the bird?

Is it time to once again applaud the foresight of the Southerns to commission a riderless statue of Hickstead at Spruce Meadows? You gotta hand it to them.

That’s pretty darn funny.

When was that in the whole timeline? Had there already been legal issues, or were they just using good judgment there?

I also appreciate the fact that the horse appears to have no tack on. There’s a statue that I’ve seen in a few different places that has a pair of open front boots on the horse, but the boots are on backwards. So they’re actually closed front with the straps across the back of the tendon.

It makes my eye twitch every time. Lol.

This was between transgressions :joy:

After Lamaze’s second cocaine thing the southerns were big supporters of him being banned for life . They are very straight people - if you’ve competed at spruce meadows you know that every year there is a meeting at the beginning of the circuit to go over expectations for riders behaviour - anyways - hunter Harrison who was in charge of CN rail and responsible for the massive sponsorships that CN gave to Spruce - famously said to them @ give the kid another chance" when cutting a massive 10 yr sponsorship cheque.
Regrettably the southerns agreed to drop their hard stance against Lamaze , and then hickstead came along and everyone tends to forget all of this.

Tal has since deleted the Facebook and Instagram post. I think the two of those guys are down to the last couple brain cells . Like could they be any more stupid or delusional to announce that ? It’s laughable at this point. What a joke.

Good to know what people’s ethics are. Add TMS to the list of where not to shop.

You would think a sales barn would not publicly announce a disgraced rider accused of sales fraud had joined their team. Horse dealers aren’t known for their ethics or concern for horse welfar. Sounds like a perfect match.

Didn’t he go to Belgium for brain cancer treatment?

Is he officially in remission now, or still getting treatment there?

He faked cancer . There are like 100 articles about it . Just google Eric Lamaze.

Oh wait he claimed he was " cured" in a miraculous clinical trial - however if you search current clinical trials for glioblastoma in the euro database which is easily searched online no such study exists . But his die hard fans still believe he did have a cured brain cancer tumour , microchip kidneys and cured throat cancer - and he even got his voice box removed ( all his own public claims) yet he has a voice and is still alive- so either he has experienced 5+ medical miracles in all sorts of clinical trials or he is a big fat liar .

:rofl: that’s funny, it was all a hoax he orchestrated :grimacing:

I wonder if this has anything to do with his return to working publicly. That $1million-plus judgement against him for sales fraud was overturned because of what I’m interpreting as a technicality. There are some other interesting nuggets in this article, too:

Nah he’s banned from teaching horses and riders until 2032 by court of arbitrary sport.

Dumb and dumber announcing him working is just hilarious.

"In reading this thread, we are struck by how quickly opinions are formed without reference to the actual rules.

:one: On the FEI suspension:
Much has been said about Eric Lamaze’s ineligibility. Let’s be precise. The FEI Anti-Doping Rules (Art. 10.14.1) state:
ā€œNo person who has been declared ineligible may, during the period of Ineligibility, participate in any capacity (including as a rider, coach, trainer, owner or otherwise) in any Event, Competition, or activity that is authorised or organised by the FEI or any National Federation.ā€

:mag_right: This means:
• Eric cannot participate on site at FEI-sanctioned events or National Federation activities in any official capacity.
• It does not prohibit private coaching or training in independent facilities outside FEI/NF oversight—something that is standard practice worldwide for other suspended professionals.

His work at Tal Milstein Stables is fully compliant with these rules. The ambiguity comes from the FEI’s own wording—not from Eric’s actions.

:two: On claims about an ā€˜FEI spokesperson’:
Statements circulating that ā€œMr. Lamaze cannot coach any equestrian riders affiliated with any National Equestrian Federation or train horses registered with the FEIā€ misrepresent the actual decision. The official decision issued to Eric is consistent with Article 10.14.1 and contains no such language.

We understand that Eric’s past raises strong reactions. He has acknowledged his mistakes. But much of what is written is speculative, malicious, or simply unverified.

:speech_balloon: We welcome constructive discussion, but will not engage in or tolerate defamatory attacks.
