That makes it very clear now that Will has some sort of concerns about the program. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks. With the departure of 2 key individuals, I wonder if that is what is causing a delay in posting the 2022 high performance list. Normally this gets posted around thanksgiving, give or take a few days.
I’m very curious if it will be addressed publicly or just stepped over and ignored.
Well the USEA convention starts today and there’s a USEF High Performance Athlete’s Open Forum from 11:00-12:00 on Friday and a Tokyo Olympic Review Panel from 3:30-4:30 on Saturday . Can’t imagine they’ll be able to avoid this topic…
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, if I were the owner of a horse that competed at the highest levels, it would be explicitly said to the rider and PTB that the horse would not be available for anything to do with The Team. This kind of crap and the fact the team events don’t represent the pinnacle of the sport is what would drive my though process. The focus would be on the ***** events.
It’s interesting, of the posts that I have seen and subsequent commentary on FB I only say 1 rider who was openly anti-ED. Chris Talley.
Now since I know things Chris did to get ahead in his career, I am positive that his remarks don’t carry much weight beyond the whiners club of eventers. And nothing EVER pleases that group.

Yes, I remember that as well! And I also remember a Major League eventing podcast interview with Boyd Martin where Boyd–while certainly not criticizing Will–was a bit cagy about Will’s vocalness in complaining about the lack of institutional support for his protest.
There was a post about it on COTH, mostly discussing other things, but around post 53-55 it popped up:
But there’s quite a bit of vague “he said/she said” around all of this, and not much in terms of specific objections to specific policies, from what I’ve seen.
Again, perhaps when the successor is revealed, the rationale behind the swap will become clearer.

I was thinking along the same lines as well. “The Team” clearly has issues - and by that I mean more on the USEF side than anything else.
I’d rather put my money into private funding of a trip abroad rather than to try to get someone on The Team.
I didn’t see that–unless he took it down. In my feed, I’ve seen either positive comments or silence (understandably so, since commenting negatively against the departing leadership probably wouldn’t gain much for the poster).

I am a bumpkin nobody but enjoyed Chris Talley’s recent success with Unmarked Bills. Can you fill me in? I am definitely much more unwashed mass than even I knew.
Given who is at the helm, I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ve had occasion to interact with Bill Moroney and I don’t think he is 100% fair and ethical. Based on what I’ve seen Bill allow or put up with on a local/regional level, I wouldn’t put it past him to do something like that e: Mars

Like, invite some local horse people over, pour everyone some wine, then say, “Chris Talley.” Better than any COTH train wreck thread. 
I have no idea what is true and what is not, so I’ve probably already said more than I should.
Oh, that’s really sad if true. Not that I’m surprised or unused to a huge gulf between what’s seen on social media and IRL, but still, sad. Especially because I like both his and his business partners’ horses.
I’ve seen some interesting posts by CT too…or comments on threads on FB. I think these riders forget they are in the public sometimes. They really need to educate themselves on good PR and online practices. I see just yesterday BM was posting videos glorifying himself getting knocked out on XC. Guess he forgot what happened last time with that poor choice of profile pic.
Oh, that is so very sad. I absolutely love his horse, though.
I don’t know if it’s sad. I just know I moved back to the area and learned I was supposed to have an opinion on a situation I didn’t even know or understand.
Emily might be referring to something else since she is much more in contact with this crowd on a regular basis. I’m just over here doing my own thing but figured I’d try to diplomatically shed some light best I could.
I wondered about that post on boyd’s account. As in, is he posting those himself or is it one of his team? Either way, it was him getting hurt, not a horse. Seems different to me than the cover pic issue.
Eventing doesn’t need that image shoved in the face of many many Eventing fans, kids, supporters, etc. It’s not a good look and these days one bad thing and…. Look at modern pentathlon.
