She’s gorgeous! (that tail cracks me up :)) Looks like she has mom’s markings. I’ve seen all kinds of different markings on the E2s, do your three take after their moms in the chrome dept?

The 3 year old has a bit if white, but the two year old has only a star and one sock. The filly from this year has all the same markings as Mom. She is a total sweetheart, easy peezy,a nd just a love bug

Cassy’s mom, this must be very exciting, those first few rides on your homebred baby!

It has been SO SO COOL! Yesterday we trotted for the firs time…what a great feeling! I need to get more help so I can have a ground person AND a photographer

Maybe today I’ll work on getting some photos of him riding outside.

Thanks to everyone for their “reports”! (And I am not even the OP )

My mare was just checked today at 30 days, has a good big pregnancy with a strong heartbeat, and a good CL! YAY!!!

Nope…no ugly stage yet. She is looking more like her TB dam though–but definately a shorter top line and better neck set. No new pictures because she has an owner who isn’t camera happy (I just never think to bring one out);)…and she is just out there growing up with her other yearling buddies.

I have 2 E11 offspring. A 3 yr old and a weanling. I have to say both are the most correct and easiest babies I have had. Both are total pocket ponies and stunners. Both are dark dark bay chocolate out of chestnut mares. I adore them both. I have pictures on my FB account but I am not sure how to post them here. 3 yr old has very huntery movement and regularly jumps out of her paddock for fun.

3 yr is 15.2 with alittle more to grow out of a Nebelwerfer 16.1 mare
weanling is substantially bigger out of a Pablo mare who is 16.2

Europa, were you the one who posted about your E2 filly who can’t be contained by normal height fencing?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Your babies sound fantastic (this is very encouraging to hear!)

Please post pix if and when you can figure out how to link to FB (I am pretty much an idiot when it comes to this stuff; which is why I ask my 17 year old daughter for help, poor kid. She rolls her eyes, but fortunately DOES help me…)

bfne, speaking of pix–just whenever you get a chance! I’m not surprised there has been “no ugly phase” for your filly

Europa, if they are in an album on FB, you can click on the album to view the whole set of photos. At the very bottom of the page, there is a link that says:

Share this album with anyone by sending them this public link:

I get so caught up in thinking about my baby Cory that I totally forget I ride ANOTHER Escudo II that’s pretty fab:

The fun thing about this guy…he’s a client horse who’s 12 years old. So he was bred when Escudo II was still across the pond. He came to our barn over a year ago and after he came we found out he was related to my Cory! It’s been great to ride him because it’s like a preview into how my baby might end up

I have an escudo 1 / contender gelding. I do the jumpers on him. I would say that he is a typical escudo. They are sensitive, not very forgiving, i would not say they are good amateur mounts, but it would depend on the amateur… They pick their people and have a ton of heart for their specific person. Usually a more forward ride and just enough spook to make them really great. Mine is 16.3 so he is bigger but the size i think came through the dam.

There is a bunch of other crap but alot of Estrella on there.

Escudo 1 is the sire of my horse

Escudo 1 is the sire of my 20 year-old German Hanoverian horse, Escorial. This is a level-headed, athletic, gorgeous (black with white star, just like Escudo 1) horse. He is 16-1 hands, 1200 pounds.

He excels at show-jumping, winning many nationally rated shows. He is a careful jumper who rides his last fence as well as his first one. He almost never brings a rail down. He has competed at levels 5 and 6 jumpers with ease and is happy to still jump 5’ with virtually no effort. He has a great work ethic. He is aloof, and that is part of his very proud bearing. He is at his best during competitions, spooking at nothing and knowing that he is at a competition.

Escorial is by far in a class by himself; dwarfing all other horses I have ever owned.

I’m glad this thread got bumped up… what gorgeous sires and babies!!! I’d love to see updated pics and reports on all the babies.

Have any of these horses gone on to do well in dressage as well as jumping?
All around is important to me, and definitely form over a fence. Need something a bit on the smaller size.

I sold mine as a 4 year old. She is now 5 coming 6. Her owner loves her. She is a super nice all around horse. She is eventing and an Absolute blast. Good mover for dressage but jumping is her favorite. She didn’t get very big. Over 16h but not sure if she hit 16.1. Her dam was close to 17h and her next foal will likely finish over 16.3. He has a different sire but his sire (Grafenstolz) is about the same size as Escudo I. I don’t think Escudo I adds any height and in my case…he took away some height from the dam (all her family are tall).

Hi! I was bound and determined to breed to Escudo I for my one and only “forever foal.” Then I met an offspring and talked to someone who regularly bred to him. They are small (no problem for me), gorgeous, have wonderful gates and can jump the moon. They are also EXTREMELY intelligent and have minds of their own. They perform when they want to and don’t when they don’t want to. They anticipate what you are going to do and won’t listen to another idea. Some turn out amazing, and some never “bend” to their owners’ will. They are great on the ground but really tough under saddle. I reluctantly changed my mind after riding one. If you are extremely experienced or have a trainer that is, you might want to take the chance. If you are an ammy looking for a pleasant experience like I am, I would choose another stud.
