I love them a lot! But I don’t use them for exercise that often; I use them for lay-up, if the horse is in the stall - they’re great for the 12 on/12 off protocol for standard stable bandages. I don’t love leaving stable bandages on 24/7 so do 12hrs of the stable bandages and 12hrs of the Eskadron wraps.
Their uses for me are infinite; I’ve used them for a knee wrap/brace, hock wraps, to hold iced peas/corn on a limb, after a poultice… They’re actually fantastic for poulticing etc. I love them. To me they were worth what I paid; my only quibble with them is that the climatex’s liner will wear through after a year or so of use, but that’s to be expected since it’s so thin. I’m also not using it per manufacturer’s direction so that might be why mine haven’t aged very gracefully.
They’re super versatile, but they are just right for my 17h TB. So I cannot imagine they’d fit out the box for a little nugget like your pony. You could totally cut the climatex off, but you’d have to stitch/close the cut off end otherwise the interior foam would come out.
I do use them occasionally for rides if we are doing serious cavaletti work. I have not had an issue with lumpiness, but I am an OCD pony-club grad and wrapping for me is like second nature. I imagine for someone who does not have a lot of wrapping experience they’d be ungainly but they are no problem for me.
