I saw this video on the emotional cost of euthanasia yesterday. It’s worth the 20 minutes.
This one about pet grief (same vet) is the one I saw first, and also worth watching.

Coming in late to offer my sympathy on the loss of your mare.
That Last Day you described is all I’d ever wish for one of mine.
From my experiences, the hole left in your heart will gradually fill with the good memories of your years together.
I still think of the horse I lost after 20yrs & now the memories make me smile.
And mostly think how high he set the bar for the ones after.
But that’s in a Good Way, they are all special in their own way.
