I knew the horses had been placed, but had not heard about the no slaughter rule! That’s fantastic.
Slightly OT, but what happened to the CANTER connections down there? I know up until a couple years ago they were still posting horses from Louisiana on the website. Is there any way that relationship can be restored, and hopefully find a wider audience of potential homes for the retired horses?

[B]Evangeline Downs does NOT condone this activity in any way. Owners & Trainers have been notified via our Overnights & Condition Books of the following:
Ban on Horse Slaughter: Any owner or trainer based at Delta Downs or Evangeline Downs who sells a horse for slaughter that was previously stabled at either track will have their stalls permanently revoked.

However, another TB was pulled from an auction and ended up having to be euthanized due to his injuries:

Re; Louisiana, and SAY DAT WHO- AND, my very long conversation with Ronnie Averett; and racing, and slaughter - heres a final post for awhile.
- I have incredibly caring and responsible people contacting me, and I thank you; My quatlity of life has diminished in ways that I must take a break.
- As to Averett, this is a too common mentality, breed breed breed , 40 mares? giving away many to anyone with zero responsibility; all for money, too many regional breeders , too much casino money for cheap horses and a dysfuntional broke product. Averett simply does not take responsibility for breeding so many with little accountability- and I did not see a true concern for this horse he bred or any feelings that they will change, mentality that is not uncommon.
- BRILLIANT IDEA as to tatoo and who tatooed this horse, anyone that can pursue that in La please do
- Kill buyers and their lots, especially in La are beyond cruelty for reasons i cant post here; , problem is if we attack kill buyers, they will simply take horses straight to Mexico and none of us can save them - strange and bizarre fact. La officials, law enforcement must end this dumping ground and I will leave that up to those that live there that need to address incredible cruelty at this place. La does have these cruelty statutes - pursue this please.
- THE INDUSTRY, JOCKEY CLUB, OUR LEADERS, as they discuss all they have done for rescue, that is established rescues w resources, there is no in place, system to create an environment where horses, that leave the tracks in drives straight to slaughter are protected; those that try and save these horses do NOT have the resources. A group of leaders in this industry must address this, for its worse now than ever.
- every person that posts the atrocities of this, understands the brutal and inhumane treatment and that NOTHING is in place to stop this in a civilized country in 2015- The industry will not address slaughter; in congress and in the senate, there are bills there that will shut this down pursue congress and senate now
- Regulators, directors of racing, tracks, breeders, HBPA,s TOBA Jockey club these folks get paid Demand action now and dont stop.

but luvmytbs- you know the slaughter industry takes good care of the horses, because they wouldn’t want to damage their product. They are good, reputable people that care about the animals, and are just sending them to slaughter so they have a humane death, and make one last use of their body. The people involved are just good businessmen, that are trying to earn a living. And we are so much more humane, what with all of the regs, than if it was banned here. And people ship show horses JUST like the do slaughter horses. Right?
