Event Barns Near New Haven CT

I’m looking for event barna within 30 minutes of new haven. Please tell me that I can bring my eventers to school!

I’m looking for: good turn out, responsible trainer, and an indoor. The budget is flexible and I’m planning on sending the beasts south for the winter.

Thanks!

One of the trainers who operates from there: http://www.amieloring.com/index.html

It might be a little longer drive than you’d like, depending on where you are in New Haven (40 minutes) but should have what you are looking for!

Also:
A longer drive than you want…almost an hour, but has what you are looking for with training, etc.

Good luck! I went through the bringing the horse to school/ searching for a barn process. If you have any questions let me know!

I wish I had known about these when I was going to grad school there! My horses had to stay in MN. Of course it might have taken me a couple of extra years to get through school if they had been around …

There are a lot of low-key, small, partial-care, facilities in that area that are within about 20-25 minutes from you. They are not well-known but if you talk to people I am sure you can find a great place. And I know you want a trainer, and most likely an indoor but there are also a lot of close by places that you can go to (if you have a trailer) that do eventing (and have indoors), and there are a lot of trainers in the area that would be willing to come out once a week or more to your barn. The barn I board at is only boarding and only has an outdoor but there is a trail that goes directly to the eventing barn I ride at (they dont board there unless you strike a deal with the owner that your horse can be used in lessons + you pay board although its full-board) My barn is full currently and there is a waiting list but just thought I’d throw that out there. Good luck!

northern lights farm. Nancy cole is the owner and she is amazing. She works with bruce (davidson) and buck. Great indiir, morton barn, outdoor ring AND xc jumps. It is a full care facility and she often goes south for the winter. Pm me if you want more info.

Yes. Nancy is in Bethany, within an easy drive for you in New Haven.

Be prepared for a big board bill and a closed barn on Mondays. Otherwise, you will find what you need in terms of knowledge, grass TO and wooden fences and an XC field. The indoor is huge and lovely.

Yes, I was looking for Nancy Cole’s barn online but could not find it. She is great, definitely give that a look

 Nancy doesn’t do ANYTHING online!!!

sigh… I miss her. Good luck!

Quite a surprise:

Bumped this because I just saw Nancy Cole’s “Northern Lights” farm listed for sale; anybody know what the story is on this?
Is she moving down south permanently, or did something else happen?

Fabulous place for someone who can write the check!

Didn’t a dressage trainer buy the old River’s Edge property, also in Bethany? There’s not a CC course or Eurocizer as there was at Northern Lights, but it might work as a boarding facility with some training help, maybe.

Yes, the old River’s Edge is now Sperry View Farm, a dressage and an eventing facility. They do have a little area with some cross country jumps as well as two indoors, one which they just built and is absolutely gorgeous.
