Eventing Barns in Maryland

I am looking for an eventing barn in Frederick, MD or Mt. Airy, MD that has field board for under $400/mo, an indoor, and an instructor on site with an eventing team or a group of students that he or she takes to events. I am a hunter jumper rider looking to start eventing and I am 18 years old. If anyone knows of some barns that could work for me, let me know!

Where are you, exactly? If you’re in Mt. Airy, Waredaca is in Laytonsville, about a 15 minute drive, and should tick all your boxes. Whether they have boarding openings, I’m not sure. If you’re closer to Frederick, you might be better off going a bit south to Destination Farm in Dickerson.

Bennett’s Creek, Northstar Eventing, Southwind Farm, Kristen Parris Eventing could all work for you.

Thank you for your reply! I am currently in New Market, MD but, I would also like the barn to be near Hood College in Frederick, MD as I will be a commuter student in the fall. Unfortunately, Waredaca is a little too far me and Destination Farm is currently full on field board (I really like Destination!!). Also, I would really like to keep the distance no more than 30 minutes.

I’ll have to look into Northstar Eventing and Southwind Farm. KP eventing is currently full and Bennett’s Creek only offers stall board and is a little out of my price point.

Kelsey, I board at Southwind, and I know we have one boarder who is a Hood Student. I’m not sure if we’ve got any field board openings, though if we do, it would be in your price range. While we’re a great group of folks and I love the barn, we may not be exactly what you’re looking for if you’re looking for a hunter-type program. We don’t have one in-house instructor/trainer (though we do have some great ones who come in regularly) or “show team” per se. Feel free to PM me on here, and do give the barn a call and ask about field board availability

Playland Farm.

Playland is actually one of my strongest contenders at the moment!

I took a look at Southwinds’ website and they only offer field board to boarders that have at least one horse on stall board. It looks like a great barn though!

I don’t board there, but have heard good things about the care at By Chance.

My daughter boarded at Playland one winter and the care was terrific. Glenda runs a tight ship. Her staff is pleasant and helpful.

Ditto Playland - and you might be able to supplement lessons w/ Kristin Parris or someone from Destination
