I’m looking for a barn in Ocala that has a good program, reputable trainer, and a cross country course on-site. Can anyone make recommendations?
There are a quite a few to choose from! I like Rebecca and Joan Simmons at Kingsfield Farm. Alex and Ellie O’Neal are also known for great care for horses, and extraordinary training. These are up and coming riders with gobs of talent and are really fun to take lessons with. (They can also ride your horse, if needed.) As for the cross country on site, most trainers have a few XC jumps, but it is preferable to go to the many schooling venues such as Rocking Horse, Florida Horse Park, Majestic Oaks, Barnstaple South and Fredericks Equestrian. As for trainers, Ashley Johnson is ICP trained, so is Leslie Law, and Joan Simmons. They are all listed on the USEA website. If you are moving to Ocala, I encourage you to join FHTA (Florida Horse Trials Association) to network and meet some of the locals. Good luck!
