Eventing Barns & Trainers near Charlotte NC?

Hey y’all!

I am relocating to Charlotte NC in the Summer of 2019 and will be more so on the west-side working out near the Charlotte-Douglas airport, so I would prefer something within 30 minutes from the airport-- open to other suggestions however.

I am very excited and I am looking to get back into riding after almost 4 years off. I am looking for a trainer that will give me a few lessons before helping me purchase a horse in Fall/Winter months.
I am generally leaning towards eventing, but I am not opposed to H/J or Dressage barns. More so looking for a versatile barn, but would prefer an Eventing barn.

If you have any suggestions on barns & trainers please let me know!

Thanks!

Ballpark budget always helps with these questions. Even without a horse yet, future board and training costs need to be considered so you can develope a long term relationship.

Horses available for lessons at anything other then beginner levels without leasing are getting scarce, that’s your biggest challenge in most areas, what level have you been riding at? That also helps us make thoughtful recommendations.

On the West Side of town - Laura Orlowski is in Gastonia, John Micheal Durr and Daniela Mogula (SP) are in Shelby. Hidden Springs is in Monroe (Opposite direction of airport) and Kingfisher Park is in Mooresville (North of the city).

Look up Scot Thompson. I believe she just moved out to that area. She mainly works with green/sale horses that compete in the hunter/jumpers but she does have an eventing background from what I can remember.
