Eventing Barns w/lesson horses Lexington, KY

Hi! I moved out to Kentucky from CA about three years ago. I am currently horseless but after a hiatus from riding for 3 years I am searching for an eventing barn in Kentucky. I live in Versailles, so the closer to that the better.

I grew up showing hunters and a little bit of jumpers (but my horse was a hunter through and through) so thats what I did growing up. I have brought along my own horses including an OTTB. I worked as a groom at an eventing barn in CA for a year before going back to my “grown-up” job in the medical world, sigh, lol. I was so impressed by the differences between the “A” circuit hunter barns I grew up in and the eventing world. Definitely much more my speed.

I am horseless at the moment and will likely be so for a while, but might be able to lease next year. In the meantime I would like to find a barn that I could lesson at 2 or 3 days a week and possibly show with. Hoping for a friendly/positive barn environment and good quality instructors. I know there are tons around me, but being horseless for the foreseeable future I am a little more limited. What are your recommendations? Anyone to steer clear of (feel free to PM that.) Thanks for your help!

Most strictly eventing barns do not have lesson horses. However, Champagne Run in Lexington does evening/dressage/HJ and has a lesson program

I live in Versailles as well and if you want a local barn to lesson at try LiftOff Equestrian on Huntertown Rd or Ballyhigh on Pinckard Pike/169. They are both are more HJ oriented, but have good established lesson programs. Both farms have FB and websites for you to check out.

Check out Graystone Stable and Steph Calendrillo. She’s taking care of my retired guy who might be ready to start legging up this spring to teach at the lower levels. Great coach and I think she has horses available.

I just saw an post on FB, Central Kentucky Equestrian Group of an eventing barn owned by Tanya Davis in Midway that is looking for barn help in exchange for lessons or bring your own horse. Farm is called Three Day Farm.

I did see that posting on fb. I’m definitely looking forward to being a full on paying client this time around instead of the barn help, lol! I’ll check out those barn websites.
