Eventing in Louisville

Hi All!

I am contemplating relocating to Louisville, KY for reasons outside of horses, but I was wondering if you all could give me some insight into the eventing / general horse scene there!

Thank you all!

UPDATE:
Hi everyone! My horse and I made it to Louisville (finally)!!

Are there any local Facebook groups that I should check out related to horses and eventing? I would love to do some auditing over the winter.

Thank you!

I lived there for 4 years quite some time ago, and it was hands down my favorite place, and also where I was truly “bitten” by the eventing bug.

Plenty of eventing barn options: Lands End Farm / Martha & Lauren Lambert, Spring Run Farm / Susan Harris, and Stone Place / Debbie Iezzi just off the top of my head. It is 45 mins or so to KHP, where there are many top-notch HT’s as well as many more within a 3 hour drive or so.

In addition to the eventing scene, the people are super nice and I felt the quality of life in general was great

I would not hesitate to move back to Louisville if the opportunity arose!

I live in Louisville and board at Stone Place (and train with Debbie Iezzi). I love it here. As previously set out, there’s lots of barns and trainers within a stone’s throw. There’s lots of horse trials nearby-- Hoosier Horse Park is just as far Kentucky Horse Park and is one of my favorite places. There’s also a local mini trial series which is great and low key. 42fleurdelis.com

Feel free to PM me if you want more specifics.

Wow! I looked up some of those farms and they are absolutely stunning. ndirish - if the probably of moving to Louisville goes up I will definitely be reaching out to you!

I so love Louisville!! Do it! Great places! Flying cross is up there too! Love love love flying cross

Proximity to events is fairly good too- you have Lexington and Hoosier Horse Park 1.5 hours away, several in Ohio and Tennessee 3-4 hours, and can get to the Georgia events (poplar, pine top, chattahoochee) for late or early season shows in 6-8 hours. Plus, as everyone has said a good amount of schooling events/unrecognized around Louisville and Lexington.

Louisville is literally a hotbed of eventing - TONS of individual eventing facilities and good access to events in Indiana and Kentucky. Really good local shows and lower level competition opportunities. Go to MSEDA.org for listings and information.

Lucky dog! You landed in an area with tons to offer eventers. Lexington is not that far away and there are trainers strung out between Louisville and Lexington. Cathy Weischoff is near Midway Ky. close to Lexington and is also super, in addition to all those listed above.

Also check out Covered Bridge Pony Club’s website. They maintain a calendar of all the area shows and clinics. http://nyx.meccahosting.com/~a00085ed/
