Eventing -- We've got the bug!

Since purchasing my OTTB I’ve harbored dreams of being an eventer, but as an adult ammy re-rider, thought that I was too chicken shit. My OTTB and I have had some… adventures, as seen per my past posts. Instead, we’ve found ourselves as wee little hunter jumpers, a little boring but a good base for us both. Well, on a whim, we went XC schooling with a friend of ours and Y’ALL IT’S ALL OVER I WANNA BE AN EVENTER.

I don’t think I stopped smiling the entire time!! We move states later this year and I have a sneaking feeling an eventing barn is in our future. Please enjoy this video of me in utter surprise at how my OTTB, who has previously bolted, goes around happy as a clam in a FREAKING HACKAMORE!! IN A XC FIELD!!

Try fox hunting too. I went from eventing to hunting and back again and the cross countey hunt runs are addictive. And no worries about things like correct leads and remembering jumping courses and dressage tests.

And some fox hunting will help build confidence for eventing. I really wish I had hunted before I started eventing.

We’ve been hunting out here a few times – we’re in Austin TX area so the hunt here is sparse and not a lot of jumping but I am THRILLED for hunting this fall!
