Evi and Tanya Strasser provisionally suspended by Canada due to allegations of "misconduct" in alleged horse abuse

I certainly do not hit ‘like’ indiscriminately unless of course it is a cute cat video, nor do I know anyone who would.
I don’t know anyone involved in this, but what sascha said makes sense to me.

Thank you for sharing this. I don’t think I can stomach listening to the podcast as it absolutely breaks my heart for these horses. I’ll never understand this type of cruelty.

I totally understand! I have my youngster being started at our farm by a trusted person. I’m always there when he is worked with.

that’s actually very common in the western world and so have witnessed it at a barn I use to arena rent from.

Injecting the ears? You witnessed someone injecting the ears of a horse to prevent movement? I have never heard of it in the western or any world and it would serve no purpose.

I am aware of tail blocks (which i believe are wrong)

Agreed, have also never seen this in the western world.

yes!! And their tails, and a multitude of other horrible things done by a western pleasure professional.

It really is a gross industry. I was a cheeky ring steward at some futurities back in the day and flat out asked the judges if it was OK to ace the horses and inject their tails for the show pen. Needless to say my stewarding career was short lived

Yesterday I asked my good friend who is VERY talented and well connected in the western pleasure world about ears specifically.

He said he has never known/seen someone do it, but it wouldn’t surprise him if it happens.

The horse I actually thought of when musing about this was Blue Hors Matine. Her ears just flapping while that tail was just WRINGING. That’s the one that makes me wonder a bit. Throughout her entire famous test, those ears never went back beyond the “airplane” out to the side mode. Never even back as if she was listening to Helgstrand.

Given CDJ’s 1 year for “one” indiscretion that presumably didn’t leave lasting damage, does anyone have any guesses on what sort of sanctions may be meted out for this pair?

Does anyone know if the FEI has a set list - this level of foul = this level of punishment and that level of foul = that level of punishment? Although it’s upsetting to think there would be such a thing, I would find it hard to believe that some sort of guidelines were not already in place.

Why would they not do her tail then as well? Makes zero sense.

Because even back then everyone knew of tail blocks.

I don’t know. That tail wasn’t a happy tail.

The Dressage Hub maestro acts like a total narcissist. It is almost comical.
