I have a horse that had Exceed injections two weeks ago. She has had hard painful knots in her neck, but is now not eating and her bloodwork today showed liver enzymes elevated. Anyone experienced anything like this? I don’t know if it was the Exceed or something else that has caused this. She also has hives all over her body today.
I’m assuming the shot was given in the neck then? Where was the 2nd shot? What was the reason for the very strong antibiotic
Exceed uses an oil carrier for the antibiotic. Some horses react poorly to that. One of mine, who got several rounds of Exceed, developed just such a knot / lump at one injection site. The hair and skin eventually died and sloughed off. Unless the area looks like it is getting inflamed / infected, I would leave it alone to do its thing.
The not eating and hives is not a problem I have encountered with Exceed, so I would be looking for a different cause for that.
