Existential Crisis

Years ago my dad and I bought a pair of ponies that were supposed to be broke. When we hooked them one of them got scared and bolted taking the other with her.

We later found out that pony had bolted previously so we sold her to a riding only home (she was fine under saddle) with full disclosure. She eventually ended up as field hunter taking care of kids where AFAIK she lived out her life.

The other pony was a great driving pony and didn’t give us any other problems.

Vet reference came through so it’s final, she has a new home :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: And I’m surprisingly relieved? Not to have to worry about this particular issue anymore but also to not have to drag myself out to the barn when I’m just not feeling it (which has been more often than not lately).

Having only sold one horse before, what should the next steps be? I’m thinking it would be better to sort out a bill of sale now since she won’t be moved until early December.

As soon as possible exchange the money (preferably by cash or wire transfer or cashier’s check) for the bill of sale and also give them all of the vet records/vaccine and deworming records, registration papers etc. Then let them pay board and deal with any issues.

Yes, make her officially not yours ASAP! This is prime Murphy’s Law time.
