I got a nice horse from them, but he was over-advertised in terms of what he knew. They said he was older than he actually is, and he is much greener than he looks in the video. Their paperwork on vaccinations and stuff is kind of a mess. But the quality of the animal and his brain is good. I think they have this going for them. I don’t think they get junk, but for what you get in terms of training, they are priced high, even in this market. All their horses are listed as ones. I think my horse is a very sensible horse but he was actually a very long four year old when I got him and not the five they said. Also, when they say “dressage,” I don’t think they know much about what that actually is. They are clearly making their money in the auctions and are flipping horses pretty fast. Some of the things I think they should be more clear and less vague about are “how long have you had the horse,” (never quiet sure, kind of like “oh, I think about…”), actual breeding (here they kind of fall back on “the Amish don’t care about that kind of stuff” when in fact I know they know the breeding on their horses very, very well), videos that are not so carefully edited, etc. I need to see actual transitions more and an actual full training video. I think they do get reasonable horses but they are moving them along quickly. They are not crooks by any means, but I think they could really up their professionalism in their game given the prices they are getting. The horse I got was around $30k and before COVID would have been $5K max. He knows diddly squat but is a nice guy and pretty, too, but a sweet Heinz 57 mutt. Crazy times.
