My horse is sort of a hard fit…so far haven’t found anything that fit him too well yet. We did have a Prestige 2000D dressage saddle that fitted him quite well but I didn’t like that saddle at all so I sold it. Has anyone had any experience with the Prestige jumping saddles at all? How are the leathers on the new LUX or the Premium line, pretty grippy? Are their trees pretty similar from model to model? It would be great to find a tree that’s similar to the 2000D.
i love the Prestige Eventer, with the deluxe leather. It fits a lot of horses well. I had one years ago, went to County, struggled with the County fitting multiple horses, and am now back to the Prestige. I was very lucky to find one that was almost new for a small fraction of the price new.
I do not like the Eventer with the standard smooth leather. It wears poorly and becomes discolored. The upgrade is worth it to me.
They have the new line at Barrington Saddlery. Very beautiful, grippy leather . Can’t talk about fit though. Would be worth a look !!
I have a black patent eventer.
It’s 12 years old now.
It looks great. No odd wear… other than the white leather of the cantle is yellow.
It’s one of few saddles I am use on my horse type of choice. Everything I ride has a craaaaazy short back.
I also have an Eventer, black with plain leather. No funny wear or coloring other than the white has yellowed.
I LOVE this saddle. I have a hard-to-fit long femur, and the forward flap option and movable blocks have made it about the only thing to fit me short of custom. My saddle fitter wishes it was wool flocked (I have a foam one), but shims have helped it have a custom fit to my mare. It seems to fit the TBs well (it has worked for maresy and my previous gelding both with padding)
When/if I need I new saddle, I will likely get the same thing with wool flocking.
Loved the Nona Garson a big-jumping strong catch ride used almost as much as my Stackhouse. Very nice leather - maybe calf, which would not be my first choice, gorgeous though it is. And I hated the 2000D too!
They are very nice saddles, but they don’t fit my horse so I don’t own one
I LOVE my Prestige Saddles.
I had a Prestige Roma, which served me well, but was slick, so was happy to move on from that one. The quality for their lower end saddles still is amazing though.
I purchased a Prestige Passion D close contact saddle. Absolutely LOVE it, its amazing quality. Prestige is the only brand that fits my horse, and my budget. Its great quality and he’s so happy in it.
Also purchased a Prestige Passion K dressage saddle last year and oh man oh man is it comfy!! Stunning leather, stunning craftsmanship.
Yes the trees are plastic, but I’ve never found a saddle that makes my horse so happy. Plus with my TB he’s barely needed any adjusting. Love love love them!
I have an Eventer, which at this point is nearly 15 years old and it has fit many many horses. Mine, with the med. tree that at this point is probably a bit stretched, does not fit narrow, high withered TBs, but it’s really good on just about everything else.
It also has worn like iron, and is very comfortable to sit in. The balance is such that you can do pretty decent flatwork in it as well.
I have a Prestige Sinead in the LUX leather and I absolutely love it. I got it from VTO. They will adjust the tree for free if you purchase through them, you just pay shipping. My horse fits into the 2000D well also, so the Sinead might be a good one to look into. I couldn’t stand riding in the 2000D though so I have a Frank Baines for my dressage saddle.
I have a Meredith Deluxe with Vintage Leather with the X close contact. I absolutely adore it. It fits my short-backed TBx beautifully. It’s flocked for easy adjusting.
I have the Eventer and love it.
I have a newer Eventer with the LUX leather and it is a great saddle. Will probably buy a flatter prestige now that my horse is moving over to the hunters, but am definitely sticking with prestige.
I sold my Prestige eventer about two years ago. I loved that saddle. So comfortable, wore like iron, and it fit a LOT of horses. I sold it to go for a monoflap. I should have just added longer billets to it, but lesson learned. I had the textured leather and it wore beautifully.
In my opinion they are one of the most uncomfortable saddles I have ridden in, but it’s the only saddle I can find that actually works for my horse and me. I have ridden in different models and they all feel uncomfortable.
I love the twist on the saddle and it works great for my high withered guy.
I guess I can’t complain too much as mine cost $600 used.
LOVE the ride I get from Prestige saddles - perfect balance point for me that has never been replicated in one of the English/Walsall saddles. I do wish they were available with much deeper panels in front - my Red Fox has wool panels and a bit of a trap panel but not enough to work really well with the shark-fin-wither-hollows type. So you make that up with shim pads, but unless the saddle is really wide (or the horse narrow) you may not have enough room within the saddle tree to do that. My current guy is fairly husky for an OTTB and even when widened as far as the saddle can go it’s not wide enough to avoid pinching at the stirrup bars with shim pad added. I’d prefer to accommodate the horse’s anatomy with panel than with deep pads, so deeper/skid row panels and a wither gusset would make a wonderful saddle even more fabulous. Perhaps these options are available on a custom-order new saddle - not sure as that would be outside my budget. For horses with an average build and wither/shoulder structure this isn’t an issue.
admitted HP here, but I didn’t like mine. I had one that fit my then-growing WB well, and I found it wore like iron, very durable, but also slippery and hard. I used it for about a year, and sold happily.
I love the softer/grippier feel of the calf and buffalo high-end jump saddles (CWD, Voltaire, Antares, etc). Granted, calf is a lot less durable and will get more scuffed and scratched looking. Not an issue in hunter land, but maybe an issue for xcountry.

My Eventer is full calfskin and it is not the kind that is glued to a stiffer underflap like the french use - it is THICK calfskin and so sticky I can’t ride in fullseats in it.
If anything, it’s nicer than the full-buffalo $6000 Antares it replaced.
I have a Meredith D. It is calf skin, but has worn beautifully. Very grippy. I think I bought it the year the model came out, so it’s been awhile. It still looks great and is very comfortable. Prestige has different levels of saddle, so it’s hard to give a blanket answer for the whole brand. The Meredith retails for $3,400. Back when I bought it doing a semi-custom order added $100, IDK now. I ordered it with an extra long, extra forward flap. It has been the one saddle I haven’t sold while I have ridden many different horses over the years. I’ve had VTO adjust it a couple times, although I didn’t purchase it there (so I paid for the adjustments). I was worried about it not being flocked, but it hasn’t been an issue.
I just bought a Sinead and an X-Breath and love them both - with the calfskin. I got the size 4 flaps and it is the perfect balance btwn jump saddle and event saddle - LOVE them.
So I just bought an X-Breath dressage saddle too - cant wait to get it!
