Thanks everyone. Just so many scams out there and have also been hacked more than once. Am used to touchy-feely. How did you pay for it and what back up did you have getting your saddle after you paid for it or getting your money back if you returned the saddle?
But did you have to pay $50 to try each saddle, then another $50 to return each saddle? I live 6 hours drive away, can stay/visit with friend, so thought it best to see, touch, sit in, and could even take horse with me.
so did it cost you $100 per saddle for pu and return x 9 ?
No - I live in the Bay Area and was able to visit Leah. She knows my barn and trainer - perhaps thatās the difference?
She super low balled me on trade in value for my old saddle. I ended up going to a local (at the time) consigner and she gave me $1200 more than Leah offered
I honestly would not hold that against her.
Certain tack stores will take any saddle regardless of custom designs or narrow trees, etc, especially if itās a CWD/Antares/Voltaire. Certain savvy online sellers donāt want the saddle to sit and will not take them willingly because they know itās going to not fit the masses, but will take it for a lower price if the person is desperate to unload it. Makes sense. If you have an amazing BMW in school bus yellow⦠itās still a great car, but not going to sell to just anyone⦠so youād lowball that person for the trade-in knowing that there might be a unique buyer that will love it or willing to paint it for added cost.
Are you in California? The issue may be the EHV outbreaks.
Otherwise, Iād suggest asking her if thereās a barn where she could meet up with you and you ship in to try them⦠but I doubt given all the issues that anyone is going to want outside, unknown horses on property.
Pretty sure trials always come with a shipping cost? Honestly, gien gas prices⦠$100 per saddle for 2-3 options is probably cheaper than gas.
sheās been great for me to deal with, I sold one saddle and tried one. She offers trials, is honest and will help find a saddle that fits if you send pictures and measurements.
Leah is very reputable. She does not have a physical store but stores saddles in her home. She will usually meet you at a barn but I can see why she is reluctant to let a stranger into her private space. I have bought and sold from her and she is a personal friend as well. She knows what sells well in her business and that is reflected in what she offers.
OK everyone, my mistake. I think she and I didnāt understand each other. She was worried about me driving up there just to see the saddle. Says she has no problem having me come over if I was local, but thought it too much trouble and not safe for me to make a 6 hr. drive especially with fuel prices. I also haul horses 17 hours in one day, so 12 hours plus one hour shopping doesnāt bother me, but it also takes up her time⦠I can leave horse home so no EHV-1 danger. Or could leave him tied to trailer. But anyway, thanks thanks thanks to YOU all, I DO BELIEVE! We finally spoke on the phone, explained ourselves, and all is well. Very nice person!!! Hopefully weāll do business since she really seems to have the inventory!
Update: Ordered a lovely saddle from Leah and excitedly waiting for it to arrive. Very easy website and smooth ordering. Thanks everyone!
I love Redwood Tack. So many options. Not that familiar with Horse Clicks website.
Only great experiences with Leah and Redwood. Total pro
I recently bought a saddle from her and she runs a very reputable business. You wonāt regret working with her.
