As the thread title says - does anyone have any experience dealing with a horse with a nuchal ligament that has detached from the spine? The range perhaps from C2 to C4 or C5, with abnormaility beginning at the atlas.
Outcomes?

I knew of a horse that had significant damage, though I am not sure if it was detached when the initial injury took place. Horse was sound for lower level stuff that didn’t require any collection. He was initially purchased for a 3rd level prospect, and thoroughly vetted. Vet noted asymmetry in the neck but thought - as did the trainer - it was due to improper schooling and would resolve with correct work.
Not detachment but abnormality at the atlas due to irregular poll surface. Caused significant effusion around the ligament. Shockwave was the answer as well as careful management (padded crowns on everything, etc.). Vet thinks that any flare ups could be managed with more shockwave.
Do you have an update on this horse? I am going through a similar issue.
