Experiences with the Supplement Bonekare?

Anyone have their horse on the supplement Bonekare? Originally from Europe, it’s now available in North America. My vet recommended we try my horse on it and see if it helps resolve her current issue (along with other treatments, of course).

It’s relatively hard to get a hold of and expensive enough, I’m just wanting to know if anyone has any (positive) experiences and if this supplement may be worth it long term. Thanks!

Haven’t used it but did supplement with Alfalfa pellets in my horse’s grain and I think there is high amounts of vitamin K in that. It was very inexpensive.

I can’t even find an ingredient list. Is it JUST Vit K1? Their list of case studies is…weak at best

Like Against said, alfalfa is a good source of vitamin K

But also, horses manufacture their own too

What’s the horse’s current diet?

She is currently on a Fit & Fibre grain by Brooks Feed with All Phase. Also have her on a Vitamin E + Selenium supplement. I agree that the case studies are poor.

Content list posted on their website are as follows:

Calcium, 3.6% minimum, 4.6% maximum

Phosphorus, 2.70% minimum

Vitamin D3, minimum 172 mg/lb

Vitamin K1, minimum 54 mg/lb

Thanks, I looked all over and couldn’t find that

A serving for adults is 50gm, or 11% of 1lb. If K1 is 54mg/lb, that’s 13mg Vit K in a serving which is at least more than the 7mg used in one of the studies.

What’s the issue you’re trying to help?

No worries! It’s definitely not advertised well.

My 3-year old was diagnosed with a bone cyst/lesion on her C6/7 vertebrae. Manifested as a NQR hind end lameness. We’re trying with injections, shockwave therapy, (potentially) Osphos at a later date since she is young, and time off this winter. I was recommended Bonekare in addition to all of the above for the best chance at bringing her back sound.

Wouldn’t it be easier/cheaper to pick up a vit k supplement at Walgreens or Amazon?
