Exselle saddles

Hello from Australia!
At the moment I’m looking for a new saddle for my quite hard to fit older TB with a big wither. My saddle fitter has given me a list but they are all hard to find saddles and expensive. I really don’t want to be out of the saddle for months while I save.

I’ve found an Exselle dressage saddle that seems to have most of the elements I need. Open front for wither clearance, thick wide pannels, a nice wide channel, sloped pannels that aren’t too flat.

However no one I know here has ever heard of the brand! There is not much info available online about the tree shape/size/adjustability. The seller doesn’t know much either other than she loved it on a similar type horse. I will be going to look at it in the next few days but I’d love some more info.

Does anyone know much about these saddles?! I have the serial number if anyone knows how to look it up.

thanks!!

It is a long established brand, made in Walsall, the centre of UK saddle making. You could possibly phone the company and talk to them directly.

They were the actual makers of the Crosby brand in the USA which was one of the most popular mid range saddles sold here for more than 50 years. Millers may have started the Crosby brand, but I do not remember. Crosby mostly sold jumping saddles, because dressage wasn’t popular at all back when they dominated. For what they cost, they were very good value for that era.

I echo others - english saddles made on spring trees, good quality, this factory has made many brands including Crosby and a few others I can’t remember right now. Great bang for your buck. I have a jump saddle from Excelle I’m really pleased with. If it fits and the price is right, take it. The quality and the craftmanship are good, and most important to me is that they are made on a good quality tree.
