Extending a Fence

Hey sorry if I word this weird, I’m new here but thought I’d give it a shot.
Has anyone ran a hot wire (or tape) on a chainlink fence before?
We have an existing chain link fence that I’d like to make taller as well as have a hot wire (tape) on. But how do I attach this to my chain link fence? Are there some sort of small stakes/poles with insulators to attach? It doesn’t need to be too much taller but a half foot at least would be good.
We have an existing hot wire that we would simply extend and connect to it.
Also sorry since I’m new, if I have multiple questions that don’t really involve each other, do I create separate posts or put them all in one?

Can you post a photo? There are all kinds of clamps and extenders for chain link, but combining them with an insulator for electric might take some experimentation.

Google hot fence extenders, there are all kinds of those.

You can adapt the 5" plastic nail in ones, this same place sells them, if you wire them thru the nail holes to the chain link top, or see if these may work, the price is for 10 of them:

This is probably the only picture I have of it now, it’s buried in snow until spring now.

How would I go about incorporating these to add height though?

is there a top rail on this chain link fence? Does not appear to have one, if so insert a plastic post into the steel fence post

If that cannot be done use 2by2 cut the length to provided the desired height , wire or tie the 2by2 to the chain link, attach the insulator to the 2by2 then run the tape

You twist the wire around the top wires of the chain link fence, so the wire sticks up, vertically and you attach the hot wire to the curled part that will now be the highest, several inches above the chain link?
The T legs are wires you can twist around any other wires.

Similar if you use the plastic ones, tie them to the chain link sticking up.

Now I get it! Thanks!

It looks like there is a top rail on the chainlink fence. If so, I wonder if something like this 6" extender could be used, pointing up instead of out:

I don’t see it on the Zareba site but a couple of web sites seem to be selling it. Kencove has it in their clearance section so maybe it’s discontinued?

The other problem with this is that if you want tape you’d have to find a replacement for the insulator portion. It looks easily replaced - it’s bolted on - but all the tape insulators I can find have two attachment points (nails/screws).
