I am very much looking forward to this! http://www.fasigtipton.com/catalogue…owcase-new.asp
Quite a few RNA, understandably. There are some really nice horses and pedigrees.
I like the Animal Kingdom yearlings!
If I had money I’d go broke buying them! He has some nice kids. I spent way too much time looking up the dams.
As an aside, do very many deals get made after the sale? I’m thinking of the RNA.
Kittens Joy looks to have the most sold at higher prices. I really wanted that number 8 filly, (I think she was #8) but no one bought her for me.
Edit - no, she’s #12
Yes, many deals usually get made during/after a sale. Fasig Tipton reports those sales as private sales, puts them in the results, and counts them in their averages.
Keeneland publishes an RNA-to-Sale list several weeks after a sale ends and doesn’t include those figures in their statistics.
Thanks LaurieB!
My favorite Animal Kingdom colt that was RNA (for 44 or 48k?) early on in the sale.
I wonder if some of the consignors would have been better off selling during Keeneland, when more buyers, especially the turf inclined international ones, are present.
Trying to sell horses labeled as “Turf Bred” to Americans seemed a bit …experimental.
There sure were some nice looking yearlings.
I know not the be all and end all of resources but Bloodhorse had an interesting post-sale article.
RNA was not good… 48.9%
2 Scat Daddy’s were the sales toppers (not surprised).
Sounds like many things could have played into the success or lack thereof (depending on how you define sales success).
New sale (i.e., never had a Turf Showcase before); many shoppers, not as many buyers
Not as many Europeans bought as expected
Maybe too lenient on some physicals
Maybe date proximity to Keeneland September might have been a problem
Maybe Irma impacted attendance by horsemen from Florida
No clear commitment that the Turf Showcase will be done again, and, if so, what, if any changes.
I will admit I liked the idea but I didn’t come, shop or buy
