Fairfax garth dressage saddle what do you think of the quality

Hi
I am considering the fairfax garth dressage saddle as it os light, adjustable, looks great, has a good reputation and is wool flocked.

My horse is andalusian tb cross short back and high withers.

What do people think of this brand and saddle? Quality leather? Ergonomic? Good company if there are issues?

Please hurry as I think this may be the sadfle after a long search.

Thanks for any insight.

Sandra

I had a Fairfax Gareth. No issues with the quality, and it’s comfortable as long as it fits you. I had it on my PRE with a relatively short back and fairly prominent withers. It worked for us for about 2 years or so, and then I just felt like we couldn’t get it in the correct balance anymore. He was younger, so I think he just changed shape too much. I’d have no issue with owning a Fairfax again for current horse, but our somewhat local rep isn’t so responsive and doesn’t seem keen to travel much. So I had to go in a other direction.

As with most saddles, if it fits you and your horse, it’s a fine saddle. With proper care mine still looked very good after 2 years of use and I had no issues with the quality.

Thank you. Does anyone know of a fitter that may have used fairfax demos or at least someone that works on them?

You can search a stockist here: https://fairfaxsaddles.com/pages/store-locator

Thank you
You seem very knowledgeable do you think the meral tres are ok? Do most people still like wooden trees?

I’m more than happy to answer any questions you might have about Fairfax! I’ve been a stockist for them for at least 10 years, and I haven’t encountered any issues with their quality. Any minor concerns I’ve had were addressed really well. I will note to make sure to use the Ripide Leather Conditioner for them.

Fairfax doesn’t have a wooden tree.

I bought my Fairfax used, about 6 years ago. (so caveat: all my experience is with an older Fairfax)

I love the tweaks we can make with the wool flocking and the adjustable gullet bars (he’s generally a MW-W depending on the spring grass and how motivated I am).

Can’t speak to working with the company since mine was used. The leather has held up beautifully. I second using their “Rapide Leather Gel”. It is the only product that works into the leather for some reason.

Ergonomic? I mean my saddle fits me and allows my leg to hang comfortably. Mine does not have big thigh blocks or a deep seat. It isn’t the cushiest saddle I have ever ridden in. But I’m more comfortable in it since it is balanced, instead of a cushy saddle that tips me forward of something.
