Monmouth County Hunt would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming fall hunterpaces taking place on Sunday September 16th and Sunday October 14th, 2012.
Location: MCH Kennels, East Branch Road, Allentown, NJ (near the Horse Park of New Jersey, Exit 11 off of I-195)
NEW for this fall!
$500 cash prize for team closest to ideal time (must be in attendance at awards presentation to win), and gifts for all participants courtesy of Rick’s Saddle Shop. Participants can also shop MCH’s new Marketplace for horse-related merchandise.
Teams depart from 9:00am, with entries accepted until 12:00pm. Awards are typically presented between 2 and 3pm.
Teams of two or three riders may compete in one of the following divisions:
Hunt (ratcatcher required)
Open
Family
Senior (2 combined ages equal to or greater than 100 years)
Hill Top (slower optimum time)
Junior (riders age 17 and under)
Description of country: Participants will ride a marked course in teams setting a safe hunting pace as if hounds were running a line. Distance will be approximately 6-8 miles, with obstacles not to exceed 3 feet. There will be a “way around” each obstacle. Ideal time will be determined by MCH. Fences will be marked and the course will be flagged with streamers. There will be one check point at which each team will be given a token to be turned in at the finish line. Teams will be dispatched at three minute intervals. Overtaking teams have right of way.
Safety gear required: A collared shirt, ASTM/SEI helmet, and footwear with a heel will be required for all participants. Riders not properly attired will not be permitted to compete.
Cost/rider: $45 for adults, $25 for juniors (age 17 and under)
Refreshments: Light breakfast foods (i.e., pastries, danish, granola bars) and coffee will be available to all participants at registration table. Pre-registered teams will be provided with a free buffet lunch (details on pre-registration will be posted shortly on MCH’s website, www.monmouthcountyhunt.com). All teams are invited to bring their own tailgate spreads and leisurely enjoy the countryside after their ride.
Please bring water for your horses!
