Fan for horse at show? (virginia)

is it worth it to pack? my trailer is already crammed full of stuff and im only doing 1 day shows at this point, its not like im going away for the week. im not super far south, but virginia can get hot, especially in july and august

honestly thought, i feel like if its so hot that i need a fan i wouldnt stick my horse in a trailer and bring her to show, i would just skip the show altogether

also, the stress of bringing a fan, extension cords, bailing twine, etc and trying to set that up in the morning before schooling and schooling, etc might be too much

wanted to see what others did

I have a small rechargeable one that I absolutely love although to be honest it has mostly been used for overheating riders, the horses have been fine.

DC area local here. Yes, in July and August, your horse will thank you if you have a fan. No, it’s not necessary, but it is miserable in the peak of summer in VA. It is a kindness to your horse to help him cool off, especially in stalls that sometimes have low air flow!

You’ll definitely want a fan in July and August if you’re able. Are you stabling at these one day shows or showing off your trailer? That might make a difference in the fan you take.

A bit of a worse case scenario here…

If you get a flat on the side of the road in the dead of summer, having those small-ish battery operated clip in fans might be a lifesaver.

God yes you need a fan in VA.
-If you are hanging on a stall, bungee it up, have some zip ties in case you need to get the cord out of the way, and you probably won’t need the extension cord, most stabling has outlets. Have it and some extra zip ties. But it shouldn’t take long to hang.
-there are some great battery operated options for the trailer.

My horse would murder me if I forgot his fan in VA.
