I have an eq horse that is pretty sensitive around his ears and I am looking for a super comfortable crown piece for him on a very nice quality bridle. Not concerned on price, just want to make sure I get the right thing. I have seen the Horse|Man bridles but the crown pieces don’t look specifically special. Any advice would be great! Thanks
Hadfields makes beautiful bridles that will last a long time. You can get them now with an integrated crown piece or call them to put together a bridle with a really padded crown with buckles on both sides. It should last you a good long time and they have some beautiful options for fancy stitching as well. They are lovely to work with.
I am a Hadfields fan, didn’t realize they did integrated or padded crowns but if so I would highly recommend them. I had the standard Hadfields hunter bridle and it was one of my favorites.
You also may want to look into trying a browband one size up. I.e. if you buy a Horse/Full sized bridle, get a separate browband from somewhere that is Oversize/Warmblood size. My mare has a very sensitive ears/poll area, and sometimes would get into funks where you couldn’t even pull a halter over her ears much less a bridle, and even when not in those funks she would shake her head a fair bit while riding. I tried several anatomical bridles, none really made a huge difference. All the symptoms have gone away with an Oversize brow band.
One thats great quality while being a good price are the Bobby’s bridles. Has a nice contoured crown that doesn’t crowd the ears.
I love the anatomic crown CWD bridle. I agree that you should also make sure the brow band is big enough.
