Fappiano

Weshaam is listed as the sire for about twenty horses on the USEF website. I’d guess from the breeding that most of them were hunters or show jumpers. He’s got about six with FEI passports.

Weshaam also has What A Pleasure, who shows up in a few nice hunter pedigrees (Texas Fuel) and equally important, What A Pleasure seems to be prepotent for type - there is a nice string of horses (What A Pleasure/For the Moment/ Texas Fuel) that are all very much of a type, and that type could be described as “classic strip horse”.

My horse’s dam - Orseno, line (basically inbred)bred on In Reality had nearly been exclusively bred to Mr. P sons and grandsons and great grandsons. Tail female on my horses pedigree is Aspidistra, dam of Dr. Fager, grand sire of Fappiano on the dam side.

Orseno had a colt, Bomb Site, by Gulch, that retired sound and had a second career as an event horse.

Mine never raced and is by Formal Gold, a Black Tie Affair son/Miswaki/Mr.P.

Three by Quiet American, two by Formal Gold, one by Forty Niner, & one by Gulch.

Can this type of info. be added to the online pedigree databases?
A bit OT, but I just figured out that Ciboulette (off of one of my broodie’s damline through Barachois) was the dam of a SWB approved TB stallion, National Zenith 802. He had a stallion son, Golden Profit, who was an international eventer…and made the Swedish Olympic Event Team, though the team ended up not participating that year. Important information regarding TB non-racing sporthorses gets so lost…:frowning:

John Nerud

I did quite bit of reading about John Nerud when we got our stallion Wing Man since he was the breeder. He is an amazing guy. He was a brilliant breeder well versed in line breeding to produce super horses, and he also was the trainer for Dr. Fager as well as the breeder of Fappiano and many others. I also like a horse person with a good sense of humor and the ability to keep things in perspective (one of the many reasons I am so fond of Jim Wofford), and I cracked up when I heard the following clip about an interview with Nerud:
Go to this site
http://colinsghost.org/2008/12/john-nerud-on-breeders-cup-2008.html
and click on the “listen here” about 2/3rds of the way down the page, it says:
“Seth Merrow clipped a portion of an interview with Steve Haskin relaying a great story about a recent yearling purchase made by John Nerud. Listen here…”. The story is about Green Bananas…

great story!

PS - you ought to mention that your sire is out of Clabber Girl more prominently on your web page. There are people who still remember her. (and so as not to make poor Mr. Nerud roll in his grave, it’s traditionally “sire name” x “dam name” in presentation  )

This is one of my geldings .

He’s pretty average. Not a great mover but has a nice canter. Decent confo but not great. Not too terribly athletic. Can be a bit of a pill but on the whole has a fun personality. He’s pretty much a standard run of the mill ottb.

My interest in Fappiano comes from the fact that he’s the sire of my stallion’s second dam - Aptostar. What is kind of neat is that I have a win picture of Aptostar where she beating Clabber Girl. You can see it here

Thanks DMK! Clabbergirl is special. We will make sure to highlight that more and fix our stallion x mare.

Clabber Girl has one very rare and special feature in her pedigree. She is from a tail female line to Plucky Liege; but all the mares in her pedigree are the very best of the best. Anyone with a Clabber Girl mare is fortunate, even if the branch itself lost speed somewhere. It should be genetic dynamite, just waiting for the right stallion.

Where is the stallion page that DMK is talking about. I couldn’t find it, but my eyes have real difficulty with blue type on purple.

Wingman

You can’t hang that pedigree out there without pics! Would love to see him.

We’ve got 3 Fappiano-bred on the farm right now, 2 are mine, 1 belongs to a boarder. all have incredibly good minds, which is key since they HAVE to be safe for the kids to be around. nice movers, easy to have around, fun to ride, put together nicely.

my stud. my 6 yr old son can lead him around (with supervision), past other horses, including mares in heat, and this guy doesn’t put a foot wrong. he’s bred mares before, so he knows the deal, but doesn’t dare try anything. this guy is awesome. http://www.pedigreequery.com/one+tough+dude

Fappiano and In Reality on top, Roberto on the bottom. REALLY like this little mare. http://www.pedigreequery.com/short+fuse+tara

fantastic adult ammy’s pleasure horse, who packs the owner’s kids around all day long. http://www.pedigreequery.com/sahm+iahm

Fan For Years

I’ve been a fan for years. I owned and competed a horse who was by Press Card (Fappiano). http://www.pedigreequery.com/rhodes+point

He also was Mr. P both sides and had a Northern Dancer contribution tail female!

34 lifetime starts, amazing temperament and fabulous horse to ride and own. I loved him and miss him very much. Viney also saw him go during a clinic once!

Are there any photos of Wing Man available? Curious, I didn’t see anything at first glance on the website…

ETA: I missed the comments re:photo’s on the first page, but it looks like if you google you can come up with a few  Seeing that he’s recently off the track, might not be the best time for photos?

Another shout out for the great minds of Fappiano bred horses. I love mine. He is the do anything, not scared of anything, anyone can ride/groom/lead/bathe, would live in your pocket if he could horse.

My mare with Fappiano in the tail male damsire line also has a great mind. She’s very intelligent and a bit stubborn. Has to think about what you are asking of her when it’s new.

Her mind was the primary reason I got her as a weanling. She was an independent little cuss who didn’t cling to the foal herd. Now that she’s five and a half, she is the alpha mare in the herd and doesn’t put up with much from the other horses. But she’s definitely a people lover and very inquisitive. She’s not at all cuddly, in the pocket pony sense, but she does want attention.

On the other hand, she’s grown up to be the heavy topped horse that Mr. Sparkman and Mr. Mitchell talk about. That probably comes from the Northern Dancer on top.

He had 30 starts, racing until he was nearly 5, and then competed up to Prelim in eventing. I’ve had him for year, and show him in dressage which he does very well in. I gets lots of positive comments from the judges on how nice he is.

Quiet American was my favorite Fappiano Son. He was the sire of Real Quiet. Nerud was very shrewd, and bred Fappiano back on his Dr. Fager lines crossed with Cequillo (Princequillo) to produce Quiet American

http://www.pedigreequery.com/quiet+american

IMHO Fappiano’s best qualities come from his dam Killaloe who is by Dr. Fager out of a daughter of Cequillo.

And there you have a nice example of Rasmussen, or breeding back on stamm, where the tail female line of both sire and dam go back to the same great mare.

Wing Man Photos/Pedigree

Yeah, no great pictures yet and we figure better not to post bad ones  You can see his canter photos here:

and his pedigree here:

We’re working on the web site so all the feedback is great. We are very excited about how things are coming together, now if we just didn’t have those pesky day jobs
