How do I go to the first new post on a thread?
- Click the blue circle with two down arrows in it found directly to the left of the thread title
That doesnât seem to work for me.
I opened the how would you like to change eventing thread when it first appeared.
It is now 6 pages long and clicking on that took me to page 6.
Sounds like youâre clicking on the blue rectangle on the right. Try clicking on the blue circle to the left.
How about once youâre in a thread (already clicked on the thread title so you went to the beginning of the thread). Didnât there use to be a âfirst unread postâ button on that page? I canât find the equivalent, and if Iâve already closed the topic list it can be hard to get back to it to reach the blue circle.
I can click on my name on tje mobile. It shows My Profile, My Recent Posts and User Settings.
But none of those places is where you change your email, which is what the question was about.
I know I am down under but our left is the same as your left. The left is in a circle. The right is in a rectangle. Neither take me to the last post I have read in a thread.
I wonder if itâs a cookie issue? Do you allow cookies, and do you have the same problem in an alternate browser?
I have no idea. I have done nothing different to the old forum. I use Google Chrome and have it linked to 3 computers and 2 phones. I would rather continue using it as is than download another browser.
The work I do needs Google Chrome to put the reports in.
Several of us are using Chrome with no issues. @Moderator 1, any ideas here?
@SuzieQNutter what happens if you click this link (I have picked a thread at random here, hopefully itâs one you havenât read previously):

Where do you go within the thread the first time you click it, and if you click it again where do you go within the thread?
I clicked on it and it took me to page 3.
I then clicked on page 2 and I scrolled down. Then I clicked on the link again and it took me back to page 3.
Have you ever opened that thread before?
The way the âgo to new postâ button works is it places a âbookmarkâ at the last post when you open a thread. It doesnât matter how many of the posts in the thread you read, or where you stop reading. If you open a ten page thread, and read to page five, the bookmark still goes in at the LAST post in the thread, on page 10.
If you click âgo to new postâ when someone posts something new on that ten page thread that you read to page five, it will take you to the new post on page 10. Itâs not going to take you to page five.
Itâs not a âtake me to the last post I readâ button. Itâs a âtake me to the first new post since I last opened the threadâ button.
That was the question I was trying to ask. In the old forum it took me to the last thread I had read. In this forum it takes me to the first post or the last post. I was asking if there is a way to get to the last post I have read, not the latest post posted.
The round button to the left of the thread title will take you to the first new post since you last opened the thread. If there are 20 new posts, it will take you to the first new postâŠso #1 of those 20 new posts. If you read to page 5 of a 10 page thread and then there are five new pages of posts since you last visited, it will take you to page 10.
The rectangular button to the right will take you to the last post in the thread. Page 15 of that thread that you read to page five instead of all the way to 10 and there are now 5 new pages of posts.
There is no way to go to where you left off in the thread. How would the board know where to take you if you left off in the middle of post #22? Sometimes there are multiple posts displayed in the window, especially if you have a large monitorâŠbarring eye tracking software, thereâs just no way for the board to know how far you read. And how creepy would that be?
I inhabit the rereader thread. I read all the posts that are there when I log in. I donât stop half way. The old forum used to take me to where that was this one doesnât. I will try again with the one on the left again when someone next posts.
Nope I just tried both blue buttons. In the duck thread and in a horse thread. Both buttons took me to the last page and there was only one new post in the duck thread which I clicked the left button for.
What behaviour are you expecting?
If thereâs only one new post, where else is the âgo to new postâ button going to take you BUT the last page?
It sounds like itâs behaving as it shouldâŠThe button takes you to the new post, which is on the last page.
That might be where the problem is.
I see the opening post on page 1. I then have to go to the last page to read the posts from the bottom up and work my way back to the first page where the latest posts are. The latest post being on the top of the page on page 1 below the opening post.
Hi there ~
@Simkie was explaining things so well, when I was checking in, I didnât have anything to add!
Do you have the âlatest activityâ view selected by chance? At the top of the thread, you can click on Posts or Latest Activity to change how the threads are displayed. Thereâs also an option within your user account settings to manage that options. The Posts display is the typical format weâre used to on the old site, with newest posts displaying at the end of the thread.
Let us know if thatâs the issue!
