Farewell III video from Saturday's stallion show

He was highlighted as the finish of a great show featuring quite a few interesting stallion options especially for the jumpers.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Farewell III and seeing more and more of his offspring growing up to adults and starting to work under saddle I value him more and more.

Kareen, thanks for posting your video of Farewell III. I have a dose in my tank and I’m looking forward to breeding one of my mares to him in the future.

lovely!

What a lovely stallion and beautifully ridden. Thankyou for posting Kareen.

(Who’s riding him?)

Markus Gribbe who is also the current rider of Floriscount if I am not mistaken.

What a lovely stallion! Thank you for sharing!

Farewell III looks great! I have long loved Marco Brenall’s Farewell IV, who is so quiet at the shows you wouldn’t know he is a stallion.

Markus is wonderful! We were lucky enough to have him ride our stallion Sandro’s Heir this summer during the Canadian Pan-Am Games Training Camp. Video here: http://youtu.be/mP1tI4TC1-M He has a amazing feel and ability with the breeding stallions. We felt very lucky to have a coach work with him who has such a huge stallion knowledge base.

Whew! Very stirring. Thanks so much for posting.

This is interesting, as I stumbled across the video online taken in Nov in Vecta and I put it on my Facebook Wall as I loved watching this elastic stallion go! Very well ridden too! I love him!

He has really developed over the last few years and is yet another reason I always come back to the F line. I have a Furst Romancier cooking currently, but Farewell III has been on my radar for a while and at last weekends stallion show he really stepped up to the mark. I havent seen too many offspring yet but am going to keep a real eye out for them

does he breed at all?

He did well at the Pan-Ams helping Columbia win Team Silver scoring 70+. He is doing the small tour again this winter in FL. I know at some point they had him offered for fresh but have never heard of any foals. I hope they haven’t gelded him. He was very quiet and very friendly. I liked him alot, really nice walk.

ETA: Did a quick search for foals and found this guy a 2009: http://www.warmbloods-for-sale.com/HorseDetail.asp?HorseID=25990&UserID=10724 so clearly he had bred here in NA in the past few years.

and, obviously, his dam is another great mare - with 4 stallion sons (so far).

I’ve seen a few Farewell IV foals. He was offered with fresh semen a few years ago and I am not sure if semen is currently offered, but his rider, Marco Bernal is super nice and easy to talk to.

The foals I saw were out of average quality mares. Were nice types/conformation but seemed limited in movement/elasticity. Very nice temperament, perhaps too quiet.

I bred My Sandro Hit mare to Farewell III. I saw him, when he was 3 or 4 in a material class and really liked him. The filly out of my Sandro Hit mare was very normal looking as a foal. Not ugly, but she did not really show a lot of movement, was ver very relaxed. So relaxed that we were not able to get video footage out of her to sell her for a good price. She was bought by a young lady from the area who sends regular updates.
She has backed her now and at day one she let her off the lunge line after a short time and rode her free and the second time almost from the beginning free and now under saddle only a few days she rides her without lunging her in advance. WT I am not sure about C, but I guess I will get an update soon. Last year a breeder wanted to get her and offered 2 3yo of his for her and again someone wanted to buy her this spring. But she will stay as the lady says she will not be able to buy something like her again for her kind of budget and is looking forward for a future mount to take through the levels. We’ll see and I guess I will breed my mare back to Farewell III at some point.

If you go to facebook Dressurausbildung Jeanette Althof than videos there are two videos of her. One as foal and one from last year or 2010 (a bit too much hyped up for my taste though in the latter). I think I will get more footage soon and we will take her to the mare show this year to see if we can get statespremium.

Have loved Farewell III for some time. He doesn’t have a reputation as a foal-maker, so we don’t hear much about him here (also because he has been focused more on being a competition horse than a “big gun” breeding stallion). Some friends in Germany have been quite happy with their foals by him, though - not “wow” foals, but the older ones seem to be coming along nicely under saddle.
