Just looking for some helpful hints on how to keep the area around our house (about an acre and a half) clean from dog poop. We have four dogs that are indoor/outdoor but confined to the 1.5 acres by fencing. Currently I go out once a week and use the little poop bags to clean up, then send those out with the trash.
How does everyone else deal with it around your house?? I feel like I need a mini-muck pile

Ah good to know. A neighbor had suggested composting. Do you suggest using anything in bottom of the can or bag to help with odor?
You can compost dog poo, you just can’t use it on your garden. They do sell composting kits for doogie doo. It may be more environmentally friendly than bags in your trash.
I’m practically underneath them with a pitchfork picking it up as their dumping…but during the seasons where it is dark out before I leave for work and when I get home the poop scooping only gets done on the weekends. I go around with the wheelbarrow and pitchfork and it all gets dumped into the manure pile.
I just tie the bag and throw it out in the regular garbage. Pick up is once a week and we haven’t had an odor problem.

It’s possible to train dogs to “Go” in one particular location in a yard which helps with clean-up and avoiding unpleasant underfoot surprises in the rest of the yard. You just spend a few weeks taking the dogs out to that location for potty purposes, much as you would a young puppy being housebroken, and reward for going there and not in other places.
the stuff makes excellent fertilizer if you compost it and don’t seal into a non-biodegradable plastic bag forever.

I wish I had the time (and patience!) to do this - with four of them, it would be tough to leash and walk everyone out to a certain spot. I have noticed lately though that they use three main “areas” 
The cats on the other hand… religiously use one, small, sandy area. Directly next to the front porch. Blech!
I have a small muck fork I bought thinking it would be good for the mini horse poop. Not so much, the tines are the same space as the normal muck forks. I use it in the back yard and fling the dog poop into the “forever wild”. If you have a “forever wild” it’s great.

Interesting - we do have a forever wild spot, in fact it borders one entire line of our property and it would be VERY easy to send it over…
We pick up and throw out using grocery bags that get thrown into a kitchen bag as it’s being dumped into the garbage bin. So whenever we have a fullish kitchen trash we go out and do pickup.
Also whenever we’re out there just hanging out, we have pickup baggies with us and clean up a bit, especially around the high traffic areas.

dump poop & digester in, never think about it again.

This exactly. Although I use a regular muck fork; if you’re used to cleaning stalls I think it’s the easiest tool out there.
And I agree with the above…if you don’t have a forever wild area - you can absolutely compost dog poop…just don’t use it in your garden. Either a pile or an underground digester. No need to get your groceries in plastic anymore!
Somehow I find it relaxing to do the poop flinging. Perhaps my fellow COTHers understand…and using the little muck fork I am able to scoop it out of the grass without wrecking the grass.
I use a bathroom size waste can lined with walmart plastic bags and a cat litter scooper. I just fling the poo in the bucket tie a knot in the bag when done and into the garbage to be picked up with reg. trash. I do poo patrol once a week.
