Farrier in SE Michigan

So going off my previous post about my friend being my farrier, it’s been 3 weeks and I still cannot find a farrier that will even communicate back. I’m being left on read left and right. I’m getting extremely frustrated, as my horse is now visibly uncomfortable., along with the other boarders horse that was done by the same farrier. I even asked my friend about scheduling one more time to give us leway until I can find a new one, and she never got back to me about it.

Any farrier recommendations in SE Michigan? I am not picky, I just want someone that will actually call me back.

If you’re close to a border state, click on that state as well.

I can really empathize with your dilemma. My therapeutic farrier of seven years finally got her RN certification and you know what that meant — she had a 12 he/day job at a local hospital before the ink was dry. That does not leave any time for hoof trimming no matter how good the intentions.

I also found my new farrier on New Horse - he is AFA certified. He shows up on time all the time and is reasonably priced. However, it’s tough to be happy with “B” work when one has had a AAA+ therapeutic farrier for seven years previous.

I would go back to trimming my own horses if I could but it takes everything in me just to pick hooves these days.

I wish you the best of luck in finding someone:)

If you join the “White Lake, Milford, Highland, Holly, Michigan Equestrians” group on Facebook this question comes up a lot. You can PM me if you’d like.

If you could narrow down where in SE MI that would help.

No other barns in the area you can go to and ask?

I feel your pain as I have been there too.

I found a gem on the internet years ago and I can’t remember exactly where but have you seen any of these ?

The Michigan Horseshoers Association used to list their members. Perhaps you can find someone at their site. Not sure how close to Ohio you are, might be someone “south of the border” that comes up your way regularly.

The Michigan Horseshoers are having their annual gathering at MSU livestock Pavillion in Lansing right now, ends on Sat.
