Farrier Prices

Wow these prices are surprising! I’m in Missouri, currently paying $125 for a full set regular steel shoes. And this farrier is very reliable and highly regarded. I’ve lived in other parts of Missouri as well and paid less.

The prices in my area are really unbalanced.

My current farrier charges $180 for my guy: that’s four shoes and front rim pads. He charges $50 for trims. In the winter I pull hinds and it is $140 for fronts with boriums.

His contemporary, who visits the sporty barns, charges $200 for four shoes (no pads). My farrier trained/apprenticed under him.

The farrier that services the barn I worked at, who is “big” in sport circles, charges $275 for four shoes and does not trim.

North Carolina: $150 4 steel shoes (with stud holes drilled)
Indiana: $240 4 steel shoes $260 with front pads
Utah: $130 4 steels

In Oregon. New farrier $150 new shoes. Three hot nails free. On to shoer 16. Grr

Cincinnati, $195 for all four, aluminum.

CT, $220 for four shoes (steel, nothing fancy, but hot shod), $60 for a trim. No charge for a thrown shoe, though I do try to bring the horse to him if possible. He’s super patient, really does a fantastic job, and does a lot of continuing education, so I think he’s worth it.
