Looking for a new farrier can feel daunting. I’ve had some unfortunate bad experiences trying new ones in the past (horses getting really poor shoe jobs) and I am trying to find a farrier who is reliable, patient, and does a good job for performance horses but I don’t need anything special or corrective. I do need quality work. I very much like the job my current farrier does and he’s been with me for a year but unfortunately there’s an issue there unrelated to the shoeing job. I’ve reached out to several other local farriers recommended to me via word of mouth and received no reply.
How do you find a good farrier in this area and can you offer any recommendations? Or how do you vet out the ones you are considering? thank you.
