Gift article. This is insane. I would not want to see my farrier shirtless!

You know how Book Tok made steamy hockey romances into a booming genre? I think it is well overdue that some enterprising creative horsewomen do the same for hot farriers :joy:

I followed Sam for awhile but it got to be a bit much with him ā€œgetting his camera anglesā€ and all. It’s more about the muscles and less about the horse. His side-kick Tom was much more fun to watch sometimes. He is mighty fine though if he’s your type . Yes he is .

Happy to see it’s increasing the number of farrier students!

Maybe someone can get the same thing going for equine vets

It’s good that it’s increasing the number of farriers going into training, but did you see that quote where they said many of them have no horse experience at all? :scream:

My farrier had an apprentice that had no horse experience. The horse was just an object to him and he had no finesse/horse sense. He didn’t last long.

Here’s a throwback to 2023 when Martha Stewart had some hot guys over:

Darn, the link didn’t take me to an article or pictures. What am I doing wrong?

I have some bad news for you about the current crop of farriers. Most of them also have no horse experience.

Unfortunately, many attend school, study with a Farrier, start their business, and are out of it in 5 years or less. So by the time they start knowing much, they disappear. Less than half of DD class are still working 12 years later. That was an expensive course, with 3 or 6 month options for learning at a live-in school. They did a LOT of horses each day, learned forge skills, horse handling, customer relations to further help as business people in succeeding.

Clever media will keep the people watching, but for most Farriers, it is a hot, dirty job. Who wants to show that on a site with national visitors? I never knew any Farriers that went shirtless! Sparks from forging are REALLY hot as they fly around!! Husband always wore long-sleeve, button front chambray shirts, though DD likes short sleeved polo shirts. Always 100% cotton so any flying sparks don’t melt the synthetic fabric and burn you. No snap front shirts, those snaps go thru the fabric and get hot, burn you when working the forge! Long hair must be restrained or it will burn/melt from forge heat, plus tied-up it lets your head cool faster on hot days. Not many Farriers with hairy knuckles, it gets burned off! Ha Ha

Interesting what non-horse folks like to watch on video!

I had a farrier like that. He lasted a few months, and then gave up. He actually did a decent job, but had no feeling for horses at all. I was desperate after my farrier ghosted me, and a friend in the neighborhood recommended him.

One of our local vets is retiring and the other three vets in that group are stressing out over it. No one wants to do equine anymore.

Not to mention the crippling back problems.

I was lucky enough to see Elton John’s last show at Dodger Stadium, and when he crossed the stage all bent over, my first thought was, Wow, he walks like a farrier.

My wonderful farrier is a woman, so….

Same.

not sure that will happen as we were just quoted by a small animal vet $1,000 for an ultrasound of a Golden Retriever , last month we had a horse vet do a nose to tail ultrasound of a two year horse, that cost $250.

I love Martha Stewart. I’ve been ā€œgentlyā€ telling her to make a horse tack line called ā€œMartha Stewart Equestrian Living.ā€

One of my favorite instagram-ers politely makes fun of these hot farriers: https://www.tiktok.com/@phoebecharlottequestrian/video/7393662342824873248

Both of those are brilliant. I think Martha is the bees knees and that ā€˜farrier’ did a good job, a good job making fun of them! :joy:

I’m so obsessed with Martha Stewart. I love her snarky humor, and how she’s in her eighties and just living her best life.

I also love Phoebe. If you have insta or Tiktok (I just have insta), I highly recommend following her! She’s hilarious.
